AN ORDINANCE 14E VYING\a. tax and for the assessment of property in
Lighting District No. $-E for the purpose of providing for the operation,
maintenance and patrolling of street lamps and the furnishing of electri-
cal energy therefor.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah.
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, does •
hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the
property hereinafter described in Lighting District No. $-E, for the pur- •
pose of providing for the operation, maintenance, and patrolling of street
lamps and the furnishing of electrical energy therefor, to-wit:
Lots 5 and 6, Block 39 and Lots 1 to 4 inclusive, °
Block 52; all in Plat A, Salt Lake City Survey
abutting on both sides of Fourth South Street
from Main Street to State Street in Salt Lake City,
Utah.
G\I This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the opera-
tion and maintenance of street lighting on the streets above and herein-
' after described; for patrolling said streets and for furnishing the
electrical energy to provide current for the illumination of the street ,
lights on said streets for a period of ten (10) years from October 5,
1954. to October 5, 1964, 100% lighting to be maintained from fifteen
minutes before dark until midnight; 83% of the cost of which will be paid
by the abutters, the balance being paid by the city; 17% lighting to be
maintained on said streets all night, the entire cost of which will be
paid by the city (the cost of operation of the all night lamps being
Two Thousand Four Hundred Thirty Six and 07/100 (i(2,436.07) Dollars)
and the portions of said streets opposite the property hereinbee and
hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said
improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and.established that

said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount o
the ax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at _n,
equa and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon
and io the entire depth of the same ownership back therefrom not exceeding +
330 teat, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcel

or Nine and 606194/100p000 ($$9.606194) Dollars per linear or front foot "
of abutting property, there being 1,217.25 feet abutting said portion
of s id improvement and the cost of which operation, maintenance, patro 1-_
ing I:nd furnishing of electric energy and the property benefited thereb
is n:reinafter set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks
and .treets above mentioned in said district, which is the total abutte st-
cost and cost per front foot of said improvement according to the contr.ct
ante ed into for the performance of said work and making said improveme t
with Utah Power & Light Company, dated September 21, 1954, said levy to -
date and be effective from October 5, 1954 to October 5, 1964, which is _

direlted to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,..

FRONTING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF 4th SOUTH STREET.
All of Lots 1 and 4, the east 132 ft. of Lot 2, and the west 132 f
of Lot 3, of Blk. 52, Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey.
FRONTING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF 4th SOUTH STREET.
The west 305.25 ft. of Lot 5, and the east 318 ft. of Lot 6, of
B1k. 39, Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey; as the same are shown upon the
official plats of said city to the entire depth of the same ownership ba k_
from said street not exceeding 330 feet, and collect said tax.
SECTION 2. That the assessment list made by the City Treasurer, as •
corr:cted, approved and completed by the Board of Equalization and Revie
of t' e property described in Section 1 of this ordinance in Lighting .
Eiatlict No. $-E of Salt Lake City for the purpose of providing for the
oper.:t:ion, maintenance and patrolling of street lamps and furnishing wit
elecurical energy, is hereby confirmed, and the assessments made and re-
turn•d in said completed lists and the report of the Board of Cormnission•rs

of ialt Lake City are hereby ratified and confirmed.
1 SECTION 3. Said tax shall be payable in ten equal yearly install-
men s, as provided by law and by ordinance, with interest on thewhole
sum unpaid at the rate of five per cent per annum, payable at the time
eac installment is due. The tax shall be due as follows: one-tenth
thereof fifteen days after the ordinance levying the tax for the paymen
of 'he improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in one year
the three
one-tenth thereof in two years thereafter; one-tenth thereo -
in Free years thereafter; one-tenth thereof in four years thereafter;
one tenth thereof in five years thereafter; one-tenth thereof in six
yea s thereafter; one-tenth thereof in seven years thereafter; one-tent
the eof in eight years thereafter; one-tenth thereof in nine years there-
afte• ; provided, however, that one or more of such installments in the
orde payable, or the whole tax, may be paid without interest within
fift-en (15) days from the date this ordinance becomes effective. One .r
more installments in the order in which they are payable, or the whole
special tax, may be paid after said fifteen days and before the first i -
staliment becomes due by paying the same with interest from the date of
levy to the date such first installment is due. One or more installments
in t e order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be
paid on the date any installment becomes due by paying the amount thereof
and nterest to the date of payment.
IDefault in the payment of any such installment of principal when du-
shal cause the whole of the unpaid principal to become due and payable
immediately, and the whole amount of the unpaid principal shall thereafter
draw interest at the rate of ten per cent per annum until paid, but at a y
time prior to the date of sale or foreclosure the owner may pay the amou t
of a11 unpaid installments past due, with interest at the rate of ten pe
cent per annum to date of payment on the delinquent installments, and al
accr ed costs, and shall thereupon be restored to the right thereafter to
pay -n installments in the same manner as if default had not occurred.

!SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect one day after its firs,
publication.
