LEVY.
-AN ORDINANCE-
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment
of property on both sides of Second South Street between West
Temple and Sixth West Streets, in sidewalk districts Nos. 3
and 21, for the construction of cement sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake
City, Utah:-

SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy
the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the
property hereinafter described in sidewalk districts 3 and 21,
for the construction of cement sidewalks, to-wit:-
In Lot 5, Block 59, Plat "A", abutting on the South
side of Second South street between West Temple and First West.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of con-
structing cement sidewalks upon the property hereinbefore and
hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited
by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and
established that said property will be especially benefited
thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said
parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform
rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said por-
tions of said street fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-
five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Thirty and 51/100
(030.51) dollars or 943128-1,000,000 (00.943128) dollars per
front or linear foot of abutting property for sidewalks eight
feet wide and four inches thick, there being 32.36 feet of
abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks

and street above mentioned, in said districts, which is the to-
.
tal cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalks, according
to the contract entered into for the performance of said work
and making said improvement, with McRae and Burt, dated the
19th day of June, 1911, and the treasurer is hereby authorized
and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of
this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned.
The East 28.52 feet of the North side of Lot 5, the
West 3.84 feet of the East 86.55 feet of the North side of Lot
5, Block 59, Plat "A", Salt Lake City survey, as the same
are shown up the official plats of said city to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back from said street, and to collect
said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent
in five equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole
sum unpaid at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum, payable at
the time each installment is due, to-wit: One fifth thereof
one year after the approval of the ordinance confirming the
levy of the tax for the payment d'6r such improvement; one-
fifth thereof in two years after such approval; one-fifth
thereof in three years after such approval; one-fifth thereof
in four years after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in
five years after such approval. One or more of said install-
ments in the order in which they are payable, or the whole
special tax may be paid at any time within thirty days after
the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax,
without interest. In the event of any installment or the in-
terest aforesaid, not beinrr paid on the date the same becomes
due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time
said installment and interest are due, shall become due and
payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight (8) per
cent per annum until sale of the property assessed; provided,
one or more install-ents, in the order in which they are pay-
able, or the whole special tax unpaid may be paid on the day / ,
any installment becomes due, by nayinf; the amount thereof and
interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon ap-
proval.
