AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sec. 25-9-3 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended by Bill No. 4 of 1971, relating
to the accumulation of sick leave benefits for officers and employees.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sec. 25-9-3 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended by Bill No. 4 of 1971, relating to
the accumulation of sick leave benefits allowed, be, and the same hereby
is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 25-9-3. Accumulation of sick leave allowed. Authorized
and unused sick leave may be accumulated by city officers or
employees from year to year up to a maximum of seventy-two (72)
working on-duty shifts for members of the combat division of the
fire department and one hundred thirty-five (135) working days
for all others; provided, however, that those officers and
employees of the combat division of the fire..department and all
other city officers and employees with more than nine (9) years
of service as of January 1, 1971, shall be deemed to have accumu-
lated no more than said respective maximum as of that date. The
foregoing to the contrary notwithstanding, no officer or
employee shall be paid for more than six (6) months accumulated
sick leave in any consecutive twelve month period. No accumulation
of hospitalization leave shall be allowed."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabi-
tants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
3rd day of August , 1971.
