AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER LIX of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, by adding in and to said chapter a new section to be known as Sec. 6102, creating a traffic commission for Salt Lake City. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Chapter LIX of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, be and the same is hereby amended by adding in and to said chapter a new section to be known as Sec. 6102, creating a traffic commission for Salt Lake City, which shall read as follows: "Sec. 6102. TRAFFIC COMMISSION. CREATION OF. There is hereby established in the Department of Public Safety a Traffic Commission to serve without compensationconsisting p , of the Commissioner of Public Safety of Salt Lake City and such other per- sons interested in problems relating to the regulation of motor vehicle traffic or representatives of unofficial bodies as may be determined and appointed by the Board of Commissioners upon the recommendation of the Mayor. All of the members of said commission except the Commissioner of Public Safety shall be appointed for a period and serve for a term of one year. The Commissioner of Public Safety shall appoint one of the members of the Traffic Commission as chairman. It shall be the duty of the Traffic Commission and to this end it shall have the authority to coordinate traffic activities, to carry on educational activities in traffic matters, to supervise the preparation and publication of traffic reports, to receive com- plaints having to do with traffic matter nd to recommend to the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City ways and means for improvl ling traffic conditions and the administration and enforcement of traffic regulations." SLCTIOtJ 2. In the opinion of the Board of Com;iiissione s, sit is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants hof Salt Late City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
