Greener � ,, �s /J }bat Campbell '" 17) Phillips r� Result A ORDINANCE47, z AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 51-32-2(4) of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to designation of City landmark sites by ADDING Section 51-32-2 (4 )b providing for the designation of additional landmark sites. Be it ordained by the Board of Commission of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. It is the purpose of this ordinance to recognize the existence of unique structures within Salt Lake City which are significant and beloved by the residents of the City and State because of their historical and architectual value preserving the rich history heritage of this City. The thirteen structures described below have already been located on various historical registers or have been determined to be historically significant and potentially qualified for placement on histori- cal registers. It is the intent of this ordinance not only to preserve the remaining visual vestages of our heritage repre- sented by the structures but to encourage new construction and renovation for the revitalized growth and interest in this City to enhance rather than detract or destroy forever the designated landmark sites. SECTION 2. That Section 51-32-2(4) of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to historic districts and landmark sites, be, and the same hereby is amended by ADDING a new subsection (4)(b) providing for additional City landmark sites located in the City. Sec. 51-32-2. Historic District and Landmark sites. The following are hereby adopted and designated as historic districts or landmarks sites: (1) South Temple Historic District --- '7'7 (2) Landmark Sites on Official Registers--- (3) Avenues Historic District --- (4) City Landmark Sites --- A. Nelson Wheeler Whipple Home, 564 West 400 North 9. William A. Neldon Home, 1172 East 100 South 10. First Church of Christ Scientist, 352 East 300 South 11. McIntyre Building, 68-72 South Main Street 12. Irving Junior High School, 1179 East 2100 South SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, it is necessary to the health, peace and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
