An ordinanci amending and re-enacting Sections 535, 537, 538,
539, 540 and 541 of the Revised Ordinanoes of Salt Lake City of 1903,'1
relating to poll tax.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 535, 537, 538, 539, 540 and 541 of theL
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1903, relating to poll tax,
be, and the same hereby are amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
11 535. WHO LIABLE TO PAY. AMOUNT. Two dollars, lawful mone ,
is an annual road poll tax upon every man over twenty-one and
under fifty years of age, not physically incapacitated, and not
bylaw, residing or coming within Salt Lake City.

537. LIST OF TAX PAYERS. Said Supervisor of Streets shall,
between the first day of January and the 30th day of November of
each and every year, accertain the list of names of all persons
within the corporate limits of said city who are liable to pay a
road poll tax, as provided in Section 535. He shall enter said
names in a suitable register in alphabetical order, and in suit-
able columns opposite each name, he shall enter the address of
the tax payer, date of notice, number of notice, date of service
of notice, date of payment, number of receipt issued, and a
eollmn for remarks, in which shall be entered the final disposi-
tion of the tax.
538. NOTICE TO PAY TAX. The Supervisor of Streets shall,

each and every yens, give written or printed notice to every per-
son in Salt Lake City subject to the payment of road poll tax
that said tax is due, and payable to the Supervisor of Streets
within ten days from the date of the service of said. notice.
Said notice shall be delivered to each person liable to pay a
poll tax, personally, or by leaving the same at his residence..orl

place of business, which shall be equivalent to a personal no-
tice; provided, said road poll tax, to-wit, two dollars, shall
become due and payable on demand, to the said Supervisor of
Streets in cases of transients or non-residents of the city at
the discretion of said Supervisor.
539. DELINQUENT TAX. COTJd CTION. Any person subject to
the payment of said poll tax who shall fail to pay the same as
provided in Section 538, shall be delinquent, and. the Supervisor
of Streets shall proceed to collect the same by an action in the
name of Salt Lake City, and no property or wages belonging to

such person shall be exempt from execution therefor. Should an
indemnifying bond be necessary for the protection of any officer
executing the judgment in any such proceeding, the City Attorney
shall, at the expense of the city, procure such bond.
540. MONEY TO BE PAID TO TREASURER. The Supervisor of
Streets is hereby authorized to receive at his office, cash pay-1
ment of poll tax from any person tendering the same, and he shall
pay over all money so collected to the City Treasurer on or be-
fore the 5th day of each month. He shall keep stub receipt
books, issue all receipts therefrom, and deliver to each person
making payment of tax a receipt therefor. The stubs of said re-f

ceipt books shall be examined and audited monthly by the City
Auditor.
541. ANNUAL REPORT TO COUNCIL. On or before the 31st day
of December in each year, the Supervisor of Streets shall deliver
to the City Auditor the register provided. ?or in Section 537,
with a written report containing a summary of the facts tnsre±n
shown therein. Said register and report shall be certified to
by the Supervisor of Streets and audited and certified to by thl
City Auditor, after which it shall be kept on Ci1e in the officei
of the Street Supervisor. A duplicate of said report shall be
submitted by the Supervisor of Streets to the City Council n,ct

later than the 31st day of December in each year.
SECTION 2. All ordinances and resolutions or parts of ordinan-
ces and resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
