AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Paragraph (3) of Section 25-11-10 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to holidays.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Paragraph (3) of Section 25-11-10 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to holidays, be, and
the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 25-11-10. Holidays. * * *
"(3) Any employee on the regular monthly payroll of Salt Lake
City who is required to work on any of the above named holidays
shall receive his regular rate of pay for time so worked in addi-
tion to his holiday pay or, at the discretion of his department
head, shall be granted one compensatory day off from his regular
work schedule for which said employee shall be compensated at his
regular rate of pay and said employee shall be entitled to such
compensatory time off within one month following the holiday so
worked; provided, however, that any employee whose work schedule
requires him to work any of the legal holidays enumerated under
paragraph (1) hereof which occur on Saturday or Sunday as well as
the Friday or Monday preceding or following such holiday shall
not be entitled to receive holiday pay for the holiday worked
under paragraph (2) of this section, it being the express inten-
tion of the board of commissioners of Salt Lake City that no
employee of the city shall receive two days' holiday pay for the
celebration of any holiday. Compensatory time off shall be taken
as directed by the head of the department at such time as would be
most advantageous to the efficient operation of that department. "
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake
City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first pub-
lication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this,
