An ordinance amending Sections 187 and 188 of Chapter 5 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, and adding to said
Chapter16, seven sections to be known as Sections 186x, 186x1, 186x2,
190x, 190x1, 190x2 and 190x3, a

Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt. Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 187 and 188 of Chapter 5 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913 be and the same are
hereby amended so as to read as follows:
SECTION 187. DUTY OF INSPECTOR OP OILS. It shall
be the duty of the inspector of oils and sealer of weights

7 SECTION 188. FEES FOR SERVICES PERFORMED IN INSPECT-
ING OILS, AS AFORESAID. The inspector of oils and seal-

benefit of th City, the sum of one-fifth (1/5) of one `�

SECTION 2. That seven new seotions, known as Sections '' Ny vi

SECTION 186x. KEROSENE. The color of kerosene o. N' r,r

tar-like substance. It shall not contain more than a �<
trace of any sulphur compound.. It shall not flash be-
'i low 110° Fahrenheit, upon test, as by ordinance provided.p:..f
SECTION 186x1. GASOLINE ETC. The inspector of
oils shall determine the gravity (Beaume scale) at 60°
Fahrenheit of each sample of gasoline, na Atha, or other
motor spirits, and shall place a reootd of same on certif-
icate of inspection. No material, fluid or substance shall
be sold, or offered for sale, or labeled "Gasoline" which
contains more than five per cent. (5 ) of solid matter.
All dealers in any product of petroleum to be used or
sold for power purposes shall furnish all customers demand-

shall be added to any petroleum oils used for illuminating
purposes.
SECTION 190x. SUBSTITUTES. IFLPROVERS. All matey

isle, fluids or substanoes offered or exposed for sale pur-
porting to be substitutes for or improvements of gasoline,
nap^ths, motor spirits or any product of petroleum to be used$, '
for power, heating or illuminating purposes, must, before
being sold, or exposed or offered for sale, be submitted to "
the inspector of oils for examination and inspection, and 4'
shall only be sold or offered for sale when properly lab-
eled with a label the form and terms of which have been ap-
proved by the inspector of oils, in writing, and whioh said 'IN
label must have printed or stamped upon it, in type no small-
er than twelve-point Gothic, a statement of all the ingre-
dients in suoh material, fluid or other substance thus of-
fered for sale.
SECTION 190x1. CONTAINERS. STORAGE TANKS. It "
shall be the duty of the inspector of oils to inspect all
containers and storage tanks from whioh products of petro.
leum are retailed to be used for illuminating or power pur-
poses, and when such containers or storage tanks are found
to be in an unsafe position or to oontain water or foreign
matter, the inspeotor of oils shall make a written order k
to have the same properly cleaned or removed, and it shall '
be unlawful for the owner of such oohtainers or storage
tanks to fail to comply with said order within ten (10) .-77

SECTION 190x2. ELPTY BARRELS AND CONTAINERS. It
shall be the 'duty of the ;Ynspeotor of oils to notify the
owner, or person having them in his possession, of empty
oil barrels and other oil containers which are stored or
placed in such position as to be dangerous to property to
remove the same to a plaoe of safety. It shall be unlawful
for any person thus notified to fail to remove such barrels
or containers within ten (10) days of the date of such no-
tice.

tQTION 190x3. LABELS. It shall be unlawful
for any, erson to sell or offer for sale any gasoline,
kerosene, nap4ha, lubrioating oil or grease or any
materials, fluids or substances the labels upon whiob
or the invoioes for which contain any untrue or mislead•
ing statement, and it shall be unlawful for any person
to substitute any oil or grease for any other kind or
brand without notice, aee e,e-er
