Green -- UMW ' '' ,. 1 Mr. Chairman Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 1889 of Chapter LX of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920, as amended July 21, A. D., 1921, relating to traffic and travel on the streets. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That Section 1889 of Chapter LX of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City,1920, as amended July 21, A. D., 1921, relating\\to traffic and travel on the streets, be, and the same is, hereby�gm \ ended to read as follows: SECTION 1889. SPEED FOR VEHICLES. Every person who shall drive, ride or propel, or cause to be driven, ridden or propelled any vehicle upon or along any street of Salt Lake City, shall drive the same in a careful and prudent manner and at a rate of speed that will not endanger the property of another, or the life or limb of any person. No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed greater than fifteen miles per hour upon or along any street in the congested district of the city; or at a speed greater than fifteen miles per hour between South Temple and North Temple on State Street in said city, and all drivers of vehicles shall come to a full stop at State Street when approaching said State Street from First Avenue or Canyon Road in said city; or at a speed greater than thirty miles per hour upon any street outside of the congested district, if the weight of the vehicle and load is less than r-r11 :1,, j I it I 1 6,000 pounds and the vehicle is equipped with pneumatic tires, or twenty miles per hour if such vehicle is equipped with two or more solid rubber tires; or at a speed greater than twenty-five miles per hour upon any street outside the congested district if the weight of the vehicle and load is more than three tons and less than four tons and the vehicle is equipped with pnuumatio tires, or fifteen miles per hour if such vehicle is equipped with solid rubber tires;or at a speed greater than sixteen miles per hour upon any street if the weight of the vehicle and load is more than'four tons and. the vehicle ip equipped with pneumatic tires, or eight miles per hoar if such vehicle is equipped with solid tires or at a speed greater than five miles per hour if the vehicle is equipped with two or more metal tires. Every person in charge of a motor vehicle shall reduce speed in rounding curves and shall keep his vehicle as far to the right of the highway as reasonably possible, and shall reduce speed at crossings, street intersections, on bridges, sharp turns and steep descents. Upon approaching or passing any person walking in the roadway or traveled part of any street of this city, or any horse or other draft animal being led, ridden or driven thereon, or upon any bridge, or crossing at an intersection of any streets, the driver or operator of a motor vehicle shall at all times have the same under control. SECTION II. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of said city that this ordinance become effective immediately.
