of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to vacation during tenth year
of consecutive employment, and adding Secs. 25-8-4.1, 25-8-4.2 and
25-8-4.3, relating to sick leave and vacation benefits.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sec. 25-8-4 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to vacation during tenth consecu-
tive year of employment, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read
as follows:
Sec. 25-8-4. Vacation during tenth year of consecutive
employment. Beginning in the calendar year in which an
employee's tenth (10th) anniversary date shall occur, every
person who has completed nine consecutive full calendar years
of employment with the city shall be entitled to a vacation
award of three weeks, exclusive of Saturdays and Sundays, ex-
cept for members of the combat division of the fire department,
who shall be entitled to a vacation period of seven on-duty
shifts, exclusive of holidays. The said three week vacation
award and the said seven on-duty shifts for members of the com-
bat division of the fire department may be taken in the calen-
dar year in which said qualifying employee's tenth employment
anniversary date shall occur.
SECTION 2. That Sections 25-8-4.1, 25-8-4.2 and 25-8-4.3
of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to
sick leave and vacation benefits, be, and the same hereby are, added
to read as follows:
Sec. 25-8-4.1. Vacation during fifteenth year of consec-

every person who has completed fourteen consecutive full cal-
endar years of employment with the city, shall be entitled to
a vacation award of four weeks, exclusive of Saturdays and

cation award and the said ten on-duty shifts for members of
the Combat division of the fire department may be taken in
the calendar year in which said qualifying employee's fifteenth

Sec. 25-8-4.2. Definition of anniversary date. For
purposes of Section 25-8-4 and 25-8-4.1, the term "anniver-
sary" shall mean the beginning date of employment when one
was hired by Salt Lake City on a monthly salary basis.
Sec. 25-8-4.3. Definition of continuous employment. For
purposes of Sections 25-8-4 and 25-8-4.1, the term "continuous
employment" shall mean employment from the anniversary date
to the date said employee qualified for benefits without any
break in service through termination, suspension, discharge,
or lay-off.
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it
is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 1st day of August , 1972.
