AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Item 1 and Subdivision (h) of Item 2 of
Section 31-2-25 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955,
relating to gas piping under the Power and Heating Equipment Code.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Item 1 and Subdivision (h) of Item 2 of
Section 31-2-25 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955,
relating to gas piping under the Power and Heating Equipment Code, be,
and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Section 31-2-25. Item 1. Gas Piping.. The following regulations
shall apply to all piping runs connected to any appliance between
the meter and the appliance and all low pressure gas pipe shall be
installed in accordance with the following table.
"CAPACITY OF PIPES OF VARIOUS SIZES IN CUBIC FEET
PER HOUR AT FOUR OUNCES GAUGE PRESSURE
SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF 0.6 AND A PRESSURE DROP OF
0.3 INCHES OF WATER FOR ALL LOW PRESSURE HOUSE LINE PIPES

"To use this table, determine the maximum gas consumption of theappliance
in cubic feet per hour. Determine the length of pipe to supply the
appliance, adding three feet for each bend.
"Opposite the length (first column), find the figure nearest to the
actual maximum gas consumption of the appliance. At the top of the
column is the pipe size required. Where the above table is insuffi-
cient, the gas company should be consulted.
"Item 2. Minimum Size Pipe. * * * (h) "here underground gas piping is
installed on the appliance side of the Meter, all such piping shall be
laid not less than eighteen (18) inches underground and shall be free
from traps or sags and properly graded to an accessible location where
an approved type drip shall be provided. Such drips shall consist of
a piece of le pipe not less than eighteen (18) inches in length, con-
taining a 1* by 3/4" coupling, and a 3/4" plug for the removal of con-
densation. All such underground gas lines shall be wrapped or coated
with an approved protective coating and tested in the presence of the
inspector and approved by him before such line shall be covered. No
pipe smaller than three-fourths inch (3/4") in diameter shall be used
underground."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective July 1, 1960.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon
July 1, 1960.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
