AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sections 153, 155 and 157 of the Traffic
Code of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating
to parking meters.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 153, 155 and 157 of the Traffic Code
of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to
parking meters, be, and the same hereby are, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 153. Fifteen minute parking meter spaces. City traffic
engineer is hereby authorized to create fifteen minute parking
meter spaces within any parking meter zone by the installation of
parking meters providing for a maximum parking time of fifteen
minutes. No person shall permit any vehicle to remain parked in
any parking meter space adjacent to any fifteen minute meter for
continuous period of longer than fifteen minutes, or any time when
the meter violation indicator is shown.
"Sec. 155. Thirty minute meter spaces. City traffic engineer
is hereby authorized to create thirty minute parking meter spaces
in any parking meter zone by the installation of parking meters
providing for a maximum parking time of thirty minutes. No person
shall park or permit any vehicle to remain parked in any parking
meter space adjacent to any thirty minute meter for a continuous
period of longer than 30 minutes, or at any time when the meter
violation indicator is shown.

"Sec. 157. Coin, period allowed. (1) Permission to park in
a parking meter space of a four-hour parking meter zone shall be
granted only on deposit of one or more ten cent coins, one or more
five cent coins, or any combination thereof of lawful money of
the United States in the parking meter at or near front or
forward end of such parking meter space then only for the time
indicated by the meter upon insertion of such coin or coins.
(2) Permission to park in a parking meter space of a two-hour
parking meter zone shall be granted only upon the deposit of
one or more ten cent coins, one or more five cent coins or any
combination thereof, lawful money of the United States, in the
parking meter at or near the front or forward end of such parking
meter space and then only for the period of time indicated by
the meter upon insertion of such coin or coins.

(3) Permission to park in a parking meter space of a one-hour
parking meter zone shall be granted only upon the deposit of one
ten cent coin, one or more five cent coins, or any combination
thereof, lawful money of the United States, in the parking meter
at or near the frontor forward end of such parking meter space
and then only for the period of time indicated by the meter upon
insertion of such coin or coins.
(4) Permission to park in a thirty minute parking meter space
shall be granted only upon the deposit of one ten cent coin,
one five cent coin, or any combination thereof, lawful money
of the United States, in the parking meter at or near the front
or forward end of such parking meter space and then only for the
period of time indicated by the meter upon insertion of such
coin or coins.
(5) Permission to park in fifteen minute parking meter space
shall be granted only updn the deposit of one ten cent coin or
one five cent coin, lawful money of the United States, in the
parking meter at or near: tkie front or forward end of such parking
meter spaces, and then only for the period of time indicated
by the meter insertion of Such coin or coins.
(6) Permission to park in parking meter spaces without the
deposit of a coin may be granted by the Board of City Commissioners
upon application being made therefor in writing upon the follow-
ing conditions: A showing of a substantial need to temporarily
close off the meters involved to the public use for a stated
duration of time; the placing of cloth bags, previously approved
by the Board of Commissioners, over the meters involved; the
payment daily in advance to the City Treasurer of five dollars
per day or part of a day per each meter bagged. Each application,
except for those involving remodeling or moving, will, so far
as practicable, be referred to the Salt Lake City Traffic Advisory
Council for its recommendations."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after its
first publication.
