AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of property
in Paving Districts Nos. 31 and 32 (Paving Extension No. 175) for the
purpose of grading, removing existing curb and gutter, constructing
drainage system to carry water across and along streets and intersec-
tions, constructing curb and gutter and private driveways, installing
water services and sewer connections to back of curb and paving with
bituminous concrete.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Paving DistrictsNos. 31 and
32 (Paving Extension No. 175) for the purpose of grading, removing
existing curb and gutter, constructing drainage system to carry water
across and along streets and intersections, constructing curb and
gutter and private driveways, installing water services and sewer
connections to bank of curb and paving with bituminous concrete, to-wit:
Lots 78 to 99 incl., 219 to 228 incl., 1015 to
1024 incl, 1089 to 1098 incl., 1163 to 1172 incl., 1237 to
1246 k_:.tc1.,1311 to 1320 incl., 1385 to 1394 incl., 1459 to
1468 incl., 1534 to 1543 incl., 1609 to 1618 incl. and 1683
to 1692 incl., of Highland Park Sub. at Plat A, Being a pa-rt
of Jets. 20 and 21 T. 1 S., R. 1 it., S.L.B.& L., abutting on
Stratford Avenue between Highland Drive and 15th East Street
in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading,
removing existing curb and gutter, constructing drainage system
to carry water across and along streets and intersections, con-
structing curb and gutter and private driveways, installing water
services and sewer connections to badh of curb and paving with
bituminous concrete (said pavement to be twenty-seven (27) feet

between curbs) and all of said pavement to be si/inches thick
with two (2) inch bituminous concrete wearing surface and four (4)
inch crushed rock base, the portions of said street opposite the
property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially
affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby
adjudged, determined and established that said property will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon
and to the entire depth back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied
and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Twenty-six Thousand
Seven Hundred Forty-two and 79/100 (426,742.79) dollars; Thirteen
Thousand Two Hundred Ninety-nine and 34/1.00 (413299.34) dollars
or Six and 65/100 (46.65) dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property for said twenty-seven (27) foot roadway, there
being 1999.90 feet abutting said portion of said improvement;
Eleven Thousand Eight Hundred Thirty-seven and 30/100 (411837.30)
dollars pax or Seven and 11/100 (47.11) dollars per front or linear
foot of abutting property for said twenty-seven (27) foot roadway,
old curb and gutter removed, there being 1664.88 feet abutting said
portion of said improvement; Two Hundred Thirty-six and 50/100
(4236.50) dollars for private drivewayd or Forty-three (443.00)
dollars for each private driveway, there being five and one-half
(5z) private driveways; Nine Hundred Forty-nine and 65/100
(: 949.65) dollars for sewer laterals or Twenty-four and 35/100
(424.35) dollars for each sewer lateral, there being thirty-nind
(39) sewer laterals; Four Hundred Twenty (4420.00) for water
services or Twenty-one (421.00) dollars for each water service,
there being twenty (20) water services, and the cost of which

private driveways, and the cost of which sewer laterals and water
services and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set
out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and street
above mentioned in said districts, which is the total abutters'
cost and cost per front foot of said improvement according to the
contract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement with Clifton, Applegate & Toole, Contractors,
dated the 19th day of July, 1921, and the City Treasurer is hereby
authorized and directed to assess, in accordance with the pro-
visions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:

23CTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
i'reasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the hoard of
Equalization and Review of the property described in :section I
of this ordinance in Paving hatension iio. 175 of .salt Lake City,
for the purpose of grading, removing existing curb and gutter,
constructing drainage system to carry water across and along streets
and intersections, constructing curb and gutter and private drive-
ways, installing water services and sewer connections to back of
vain and paving with bituminous concrete, is hereby confirmed,
and the assessments made as:.d returned in said completed lists, and ,
the report of the Board of Equalization and Review to the Board
of Commissioners of 3alt Lake City, are hereby ratified, approved
and confirmed.
2ECTI03 III. acid tax shall be payable in ten equal
yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance with interest
ion the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per cent per annum,
payable at the time each installment is due. In the event any
installment or the interest aforesaid is not paid on the day the
sane becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at
the time said installment and interest are due, shall become due
and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of twelve per
cent per annum until the sale of the property assessed.
SETION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
