SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No 82 of 1981
(Vacating of portions of Utah, Valencia and Cheyenne
Streets together with portions of Harris,
Bayfield and Van Buren Avenues and in the area
north of 1700 South, east of Redwood Road and
west of the Jordan and Salt Lake Surplus Canal)
AN ORDINANCE VACATING PORTIONS OF UTAH, VALENCIA AND
CHEYENNE STREETS TOGETHER WITH PORTIONS OF HARRIS, BAYFIELD AND
VAN BUREN AVENUES IN THE AREAS NORTH OF 1700 SOUTH EAST OF
REDWOOD ROAD AND WEST OF THE JORDAN AND SALT LAKE SURPLUS CANAL.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City;
SECTION 1. That the following described parcels of real
property which include Bayfield Avenue from Redwood Road to
Cheyenne Street, (excluding Brighton Canal), Harris Avenue from
the east line of Prospect Street to Valencia, (excluding the
Brighton Canal); Van Buren Avenue from Utah Street to the Jordan
and Salt Lake Surplus Canal; Utah Street from the Jordan and Salt
Lake Surplus Canal south to the City property line 30 feet north
of 1700 South Street as platted, Valencia Street from Harris
Avenue south to said City property 30 feet north of 1700 South;
and Cheyenne Street from the Jordan and Salt Lake Surplus Canal
to said City boundary north of 1700 South Street. All streets so
described are generally located between Redwood Road and the
Jordan and Salt Lake Surplus Canal north of 1700 South. Such
streets hereinafter more particularly described below, be, and
the same are hereby VACATED and declared no longer to be public
thoroughfares for the use of the public streets, avenues, alleys
or pedestrian way, subject to the reservations, terms and
conditions hereof.
Parcels 1-3 - Bayfield Avenue.
Parcel 1 - Redwood Road to Prospect Street:
Commencing at the southeast corner of Lot 12,
Block 5, Prospect Park Subdivision, a subdivision
located in the southwest 1/4, northeast 1/4, tO
Section 15, T1S, R1W, SLH & M; thence running West
along the north line of Bayfield Avenue 302 feet
more or less to the east line of Redwood Road; '^
thence South 66 feet to the south line of Bayfield
Avenue; thence East along the south line of Co
Bayfield Avenue 302 feet more or less to the

SAID VACATION IS ALSO EXPRESSLY MADE SUBJECT TO
ALL EXISTING RIGHTS-OF-WAY, RIGHTS-OF-ENTRY, AND
EASEMENTS OF ALL UTILITIES OF ANY AND EVERY KIND
AND DESCRIPTION NOW LOCATED ON, IN, UNDER OR OVER
THE CONFINES OF THE ABOVE-DESCRIBED PROPERTY AND
SUBJECT TO THE RIGHT OF ENTRY THEREON FOR THE
PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING, ALTERING, REPAIRING,
REPLACING, REMOVING, OR REROUTING SAID UTILITIES
AND ALL OF THEM. IN PARTICULAR, IT IS UNDERSTOOD •
THAT THERE IS NO INTENTION TO RELINQUISH ANY
INTEREST IN THE BRIGHTON IRRIGATION CANAL, JORDAN

SECTION 2. Condition Subsequent. After its publication, C}
this ordinance shall be of no final effect, nor shall it be

recorded upon the records of the Salt Lake County Recorder's
office until such time as the petitioners have submitted and
received approval by the City Engineer of a certificate of survey
locating and dedicating a 20 foot easement for the existing C. W.
Drain facility as it runs between 1700 South and California
Street.
This survey must be submitted and approved by the City
within twelve months from the date of passage.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon
recording with the Salt Lake County Recorder. However, in the
event the certificate of survey is not so provided, within twelve
months from the date hereof, this ordinance shall have no legal
force and effect and shall not be recorded in the office of the
County Recorder. The ordinance shall not be recorded nor shall
quitclaim deeds be prepared or issued until the City Engineer and
City Attorney verify to the City Recorder that all terms and
conditions of this ordinance have been satisfied.
