AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 25-1-7 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah , 1965, relating to the residency of all appointive
officers in the city.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-1-7 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake
City, Utah, 1965, relating to residency within the city of all appointive
officers and employees of the city be, and the same hereby is, amended to
read as follows:
"Sec. 25-1-7. Residency within city required of all
employees and officers. Every officer and employee of
Salt Lake City must be a resident of the city at the time
of his appointment and must continue a resident of the city
while employed by the city, provided, however, that any
employee or officer residing outside the corporate limits
of Salt Lake City at the effective date of this ordinance
may have two (2) years thereafter within which to estab-
lish residency in Salt Lake City.
"The provisions of this section regarding residency may
be suspended by the Board of Commissioners in the following
situations:
"(a) In the event of special hardship because of health
considerations or financial loss;
"(b) When the nature of the duties of an officer or
employee requires residency outside the limits of Salt Lake
City;
"(c) In case of public emergency or calamity or war;
"(d) In case of the employment of professionally trained
experts employed upon a temporary basis."
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
6th day of December, 1967.
