Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of
property on Ninth South Street between Main and Fifth East
Streets, in Paving Districts Nos. 28 and 32 (Paving Extension
No. 111), for the purpose of providing for the grading,
curbing and guttering, constructing drainage system, storm
sewer and private driveways, and paving thereof.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of
the same upon the property hereinafter described in Paving
Districts Nos. 28 and 32 (Paving Extension No. ill), for the
purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and guttering,
constructing drainage system, storm sewer and private dreveways,
and paving thereof, to-wit:
In Lots 1 and 2, Block 3; 1, 2, 3 and 4, Block 2; 1, Block
1, and 1 to 11, inclusive, Block 1, City Hall Subdivision of
Block 1, all in Plat "A"; 4, Block 7; 1, Block 2, and 1 and 2,
Block 1, Blair & Curtis Subdivision of Block 7; and 1 and 2,
Block 6, all in Plat "B", and all in Salt Lake City Survey,
abutting on the north side of Ninth South Street between Main
and Fifth East Streets.

curbing and guttering with Dement, constructing drainage system
to carry water along and across streets and intersections, of
vitrified, concrete and corrugated iron pipe from six (6) inches
to twenty-four (24) inches in diameter, constructing storm sewer
and private driveways, and paving with sheet asphalt (said Pave-
nett on Ninth South Street between Main and State Streets to be
eighty-two (82) feet between curbs, forty-six (46) feet on the
south side of the center line of said street, and thirty-six
(36) feet on the north side of the center line of said street,
and the abutters on the south side of said portion of said street
to be assessed for roadway forty-six (46) feet wide, and the
abutters on the north side of said portion of said street to be
assessed for roadway thirty-six (36) feet wide; and said paves
ment of said Ninth South Street between State and Fifth East
Streets to be sixty (60) feet between curbs, and all of said
pavement to be nine (9) inches thick, with six (6) inch concrete
base,ane and one-half (1+) inch binder, and one and one-half
(1*) inch topping), the portions of said street opposite the
property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially
affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby
adjudged, determined and established that said property will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage
upon said portions of said street fronting upon and to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied
and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is twenty thousand
two hundred forty-seven and 12/100 ($2,247.12) dollars; four
thousand two hundred ninety-six and 60/100 ($4,296.60) dollars,
or six and 51/100 ($6.51) dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property for said thirty-six foot roadway, there being

660 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; fifteen
thousand two hundred seventy-five and 52/100 ( 15,275.52) dollars,
or six and 24/100 46.24) dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property for said sixty foot roadway, there being 2448
feet abutting said portion of said improvement; and six hundred
seventy-five ($675.00) dollars for private driveways, or forty-
five ( 45.00) dollars for each private driveway, there being 15
private driveways, the cost of the construction of which private
driveways and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set
out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and street
above mentioned in said districts, which is the total cost and
cost per front foot of said improvement, according to the con-
tract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement, with J. W. Mellen, dated the 21st day of June,
1917, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to
assess, in accordance with the provisions of this erdinanoe, for
the purpose herein mentioned:
Thirty-six Foot Roadway.
The south side of Lots 1 and 2, Block 3, Plat "A", Salt Lake
City Survey.
Sixty Foot Roadway.
The south side of Lots 1 and 4, the south side of the west
148.5 feet of Lot 3, the south side of the east 148.5 feet of
Lot 2, Block 2; the south side of the east 297 feet of lot 1,
Block 1; the south side of Lots 1 to 11, inclusive, Block 1,
City Hall Subdivision of Block 1, all in Plat "A"; the south
side of Lot 4, Block 7; the south side of Lot 1, Block 2, and
the south side of Lots 1 and 2, Block 1, Blair & Curtis Subdi-
vision of Block 7; the south side of Lots 1 and 2, Block 6, all
in Plat "B", and all in Salt Lake City Survey.

The south side of the east 41.25 feet of the west 165 feet,

the south side of the west 66 feet of the east 165 feet, and the
south side of the east 99 feet of Lot 1, Block 3; the south side
of the east 46.75 feet of the west 96.25 feet, the south side of
of Lot 2, the west 99 feet of
the east 35.75 feet, and the south side of the east 49.5 feet of,
Lot 1, Block 2; the south side of the east 165 feet of Lot 1,
Block 1, all in Plat "A"; the south side of Lot 4, Block 7; the
south side of the east 49.5 feet of the west 132 feet, the south
side of the east 41.25 feet of the west 206.25 feet, the south
side of the east 41.25 feet of the west 247.5 feet,the south
side of the east 41.25 feet of the west 288.75 feet, and the
south side of the east 41.25 feet of Lot 2, the south side of
the west 14 feet, and the south side of the east 20 feet of the
west 165 feet of Lot 1, Block 6, all in Plat "B", and all in
Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official
plats of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from
said street, and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per Dent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after
the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for
such improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in two
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof
in three years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth
thereof in four years after said ordinance becomes effective;
one-tenth thereof in five years after said ordinance becomes
effective; one-tenth thereof in six years after said ordinance
becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in seven years after said
ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in eight years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in
nine years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-tenth

thereof in ten years after said ordinance becomes effective.
One or more of said installments, in the order in which they are
payable, or the whole speci_'1 tax, may be paid at any time within
• thirty days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax
becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any install-
ment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the
same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at
the time said installment and interest are due, shall become due
and payable, and shal raw interest at the rate of eight per
Dent per annum until the sale of the property assessed; provided,
one or more installmin'ts, in the order in which they are payable,
or the whole speoialatax unOa3d, may be paid on the day any
installment becomes this, by. paying the amount thereof and interest
to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
