AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of
property on the south side of Twenty-seventh South Street be-
tween Thirteenth List and Chadwick Streets, on the north side
of Claybourne Avenue between Thirteenth East and Chadwick Streets,
on the south side of Claybourne Avenue between Highland Drive
and Chadwick Street, on both sides of Thirteenth East Street
from Twenty-seventh South Street to 441 feet south of Claybourne
Avenue, on both sides of Alden Street from Twenty-seventh South
Street to 441 feet south of Claybourne Avenue, on both sides
of Beverly Street between Twenty-seventh South Street and Crandall
Avenue, on the west side of Chadwick Street between Twenty-seventh
South Street and Crandall Avenue, and on the east side of Chad-
wick Street from 125 feet south of Claybourne Avenue to Crandall
Avenue in Sidewalk District No. 40 (Sidewalk Extension No. 198)
for the construction of concrete sidewalks.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OP COMMISSIONERS of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment
of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Sidewalk
District -No. 40, (Sidewalk Extension No. 198), for the con-
struction of concrete sidewalks, to-wit:

land Drive and Chadwick Street, on both sides of Thirteenth East;
Street from Twenty-seventh South Street to 441 feet south of
Claybourne Avenue, on both sides of Alden Street from Twenty-
seventh South Street to 441 feet south of Claybourne Avenue, on
both sides of Beverly Street between Twenty-seventh South Street
and Crandall Avenue, on the west side of Chadwick Street between
Twenty-seventh South Street and Crandall Avenue, and on the east!
side of Chadwick Street from 125 feet south of Claybourne Avenue
to Crandall Avenue.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing
,concrete sidewalks four (4) feet wide and four (4) inches thick,
!;with three and one-quarter(3-q) inch base and three-quarter ( )
inch topping, upon the portions of said streets opposite the
property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially'
!affeoted and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby
adjudged, determined and established that said property will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
:levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal

and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage
upon said portions of said streets, fronting upon and to a
depth of fifty (50) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby
levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Thirteen
Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy-eight and 61/100 Gr>13,878.61)
dollars or one and 281/1000 (41.281) dollars per front or lin-
ear foot of abutting property, there being 10834.2 feet of
abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and;
streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total
cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalks, according to
the contract entered into for the performance of said work and
making said improvement, with A. J. Gillis, Contractor, dated
the 22d day of December, 1919, and the Treasurer is hereby
• authorized and directed to assess, in accordance with the pro-
visions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:
The West side of:lots 1 to 28 incl. of Block 1,
the east side of Lots 1 & 38 to 64 incl. , the north side of Lots
29 to 38 incl. and the west side of Lots 2 to 29 incl. of Block
2; the east side of Lots 1 & 38 to 64 incl., the north side of
Lots 29 to 38 incl. , the west side of Lots 17 to 29 incl. of
Block 3; the east side of Lots 2 to 14 incl., the north side
of Lots 14 to 17 incl. , the north side of the east 117.5 feet,
the west side of the north 125 feet of the east 117.5 feet,
the west side of the north 299.84 feet of the south 339.44 feet;
of the east 117.5 feet, the east side of the north 440.56 feet
of the west 110 feet and the north side of the west 110 feet of
Lot 18, Block 4, Highland Pk. Plat C, Pt. of Secs. 20, 21, 28
& 29, T. 1 S. , R. 1 E. , S.L.B.M. ,Beg. at the IV. W. cor. of
Lot 18, Blk. 4, Highland Park Plat C; thence west 155 feet,
Sea. 29, T. 1 S., R. 1 E., S.L.B.M., the East side of Lots 1 &
26 to 35 incl. of Block 5, the west side of Lots 10 to 24 incl.,
the south side of Lots 1 to 10 incl. , the north side of Lots

the official plats of said city, to a depth of fifty (50)
feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax.
SECTION II. Said tax shall bec one and be delinquent
in five equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole
sum unpaid at the rate of six par cent per armum, payable at the
time each installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one yesr
after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the pay-,
ment for such improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof
in two years after said ordi nance becanes effective; one-fifth
thereof in three years after said ord. nanoe becomes effective;
one-fifth thereof in four years after said ordinance becomes
effective; and one-fifth thereof in five years after said
ordinance bec ernes effective, one or more of said installments,
in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special
tax, may be paid at any time within thirty days after the or-
dinance confirming the levy of the tax becomes effective, with.-
out interest. In the event of any installment or the interest
aforesaid not being paid on the date the same bee ernes due, the
whole amount of the spec ial tax unpaid at the time said in-
stallment and interest are due, shall become due and payable,
and.shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent par annum
until the sale of the property assessed; pr ovided, one or
more installments , in the order in which they are payable, or

;the whole special tag unpaid, may be paid on the day any in-
`stailment because due, by paying the amount thereof and inter-
est to said date.
SECTION III. This oral nanoe shall take effect one
day after its first publication.
