AN ORDINANCE AMlNDING Chapter 2 of Title 32, of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to offenses involving
morals, by adding thereto two new sections to be known as Sec. 32-2-13,
and 32-2-14, relating to soliciting for immoral purposes and severability.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 2, Title 32, of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to offenses involving morals, is
hereby amended by adding thereto two new sections to be known as Sec.
32-2-13 and 32-2-14, relating to soliciting for immoral purposes and
severability, to read as follows:
"Sec. 32-2-13. Soliciting for immoral purposes. Any person
who shall solicit any person upon the streets, sidewalks, or any
other public place, within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City,
for sexual intercourse for hire or other lewd, lascivious or obscene
purpose or purposes shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
"Sec. 32-2-14. Severability. If any section, subsection,
sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this chapter is for any
reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct
and independent provision, and such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions thereof."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publi-
cation.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
