Cire Hogensen c'(Y( c Phillips _( , dDINANCE (J47 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 7 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to city courts, by adding thereto a NEW chapter 4. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Title 7 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to city courts, be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new Chapter 4, to read as follows: CHAPTER 4 CITY COURTS AND JUDGES Sections: 7-4-1. Establishment of city court. 7-4-2. Establishment of city judgeships. 7-4-3. Election, term and tenure of city judges. 7-4-4. Appointment by mayor pending election. 7-4-5. Compensation of judges. Sec. 7-4-1. Establishment of city court. There is hereby created within Salt Lake City government a city court which shall be known as the "City Court of Salt Lake City, Utah." Sec. 7-4-2. Establishment of city judgeships. There is hereby created within the city court of Salt Lake City, Utah, six offices of judge of said city court. Sec. 7-4-3. Election, term and tenure of city judges. City judges shall be elected by the qualified electors of Salt Lake City at the municipal election to be held in the year 1981, and sexennially there- after. The terms of office of said judges shall be for six years beginning at twelve o-clock noon on the first Monday of January succeeding their election. Sec. 7-4-4. Appointment by mayor pending election. Upon the creation of an additional judgeship or the vacation of an existing judgeship, the mayor, with the consent of the city commission, shall, in accordance with Chapter 3 of this title appoint a city judge or judges who shall be entitled to serve until twelve o'clock noon on the first Monday of January succeeding the next municipal election after said appointment or appointments are made, at which city judges are elected, and until their successors are elected and qualified. Sec. 7-4-5. Compensation of judges. Judges of the city court shall be paid salaries as set forth in subsection (e) of Section 25-4-6 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965. SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the health, peace and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this Ordinance become effective immediately. 88 -2- SECTION 3.
