AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Suction 51-4-9 of the zoning ordinance
pertaining to front yard requirements.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah;
SECTION 1 . That Section 51-4-9 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, pertaining to front yard requirements of the
zoning ordinance, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 51-4-9. Front yard to be open. The area of the
front yard shall be open and unobstructed except for a fence
or wall not over four (4) feet in height; uncovered steps
leading to the main building shall be allowed in any front yard
as defined herein, provided, however, that they be not more than
four (4) feet in height and shall not cause any danger or
hazard to traffic by obstructing a clear view of the street or
intersection. Any portion of any steps, covered or uncovered,
that are more than four (4) feet above grade must be in back of
the required setback line. Where the building is not over two
(2) stories in height, the cornice or eaves may project not more
than two (2) feet into the front yard. Unsupported awnings
covering only doors or windows may project three (3) feet into
the front yard. The required front yard area cannot be used
for parking space unless authorized by the Board of Adjustment."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
