Result . . . .
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Title 23 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to motor buses,
stage lines and automobile rental, by adding thereto a new chapter
to be known as Chapter 6, proclaiming an election to be held on
the proposition for the creation of a Public Transit District.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Title 23 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah.' relating to motor buses, stage lines and automobile
rental be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new
chapter to be known as Chapter 6, the same proclaiming an election
to be held November 4, 1969, on the proposition for the creation
of a Public Transit District, and to read as follows:
Sec. 23-6-1. That the following named cities have
adopted the initiating ordinance of Salt Lake City, Utah,
known as Title 23, Chapter 5, Salt Lake City Ordinances,
the same initiating the creation of a public transit dis-
trict, all in accordance with Chapter 12, Laws of the State
of Utah, 1969, First Special Session:
Salt Lake City
City of Murray
City of South Salt Lake
City of Sandy
City of Midvale
City of Bingham Canyon
Sec. 23-6-2. That it is hereby proclaimed that there
shall be an election November 4, 1969, for the City of
Salt Lake, State of Utah, at which election the proposition
for the creation of a public transit district shall be
submitted to the qualified electors of said city.

Sec. 23-6-3. That, upon the date of said election,
the polls shall be open at 7:00 o'clock a.m. and shall
close at 8:00 o'clock p.m.
Sec. 23-6-4. That the proposition for the creation of
the public transit district and the manner of voting "for"
or "against" the proposition shall be submitted to the
electors in the following manner and form:
"Shall the area of Salt Lake City be
included within and become a part of
a Public Transit District, the same to
be a separate and independent corporate Yes / /
public agency which can operate in its
own right and authority, without restric-
tion to Municipal or County limits,
the purpose of which is to provide the
means necessary for mass transportation
of persons, and to possess the powers No / /
and undertake the obligations as speci-
fied, defined and described in Chapter
12, Laws of the State of Utah 1969,
first special session?"

places and the names of the judges for each district are

Sec. 23-6-6. That one of the judges from each of
said districts shall act as the clerk for the election
and said judges shall constitute a board of election for
each polling place.
Sec. 23-6-7. That the election proceedings on the
question shall be carried out and determined all in accordance
with the provisions of Chapter 12, Laws of the State of
Utah, 1969, First Special Session.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of
the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become
effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 23rd day of October, 1969.
