CS) Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake Goi' City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 245 of Article 15 of the Traffic Code of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to Parades and processions, permits required, be, and the same hereby is, amended as follows: Sec. 245. Parades and processions, permits required. No procession or parade except a funeral procession shall occupy, march or proceed along any street except in accordance with a permit issued by the Board of City Commissioners of this city. All requests for such Permits shall state the time, place of formation, proposed line of march, destination and such other information as the Board of City Commissioners may require. All requests for parade permits must he in the hands of the City Commission at least five (5) days prior to the actual time of the procession. The time and the route shall be designated, but may be changed by the Board of City Commissioners, should they deem it in the public interest. Anv procession or parade proceeding in accordance with the permit issued as hereinabove provided may he authorized by the Board of City Commissioners to disregard traffic-control devices. The person or persons obtaining such permits, together with the sponsoring organizations whom they represent, shall. provide, at their own expense, police supervision for such parades or processions which are not of a community-wide nature when, in the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, such supervision is necessary in the interest of preserving peace and promoting the health and welfare of the residents of Salt Lake City. The Board of Commissioners expressly finds that a number of children have been iniured as they run into the streets to gather items distributed from vehicles in the parade and it is hereby declared a ''Class "B" misdemeanor to dispurse items, including candy, from vehicles engaged in parades within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City, Utah. SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
