June 9, AN ORDINANCE. AN ORDINANCE designating and setting aside a portion of Salt Take City as a residence district and prohibiting the erection, construction, operation or maintenance of certain businesses therein. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of halt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. There is hereby created, designated and set aside as a residence district the portion of Salt Lake City contained and included within the following described boundaries, to wit: Beginning at the south line of North 'Temple Street where said line intersects the east bank of the Jordan River; thence east along the south line of North l'emple Street to the northwest corner of Block 58, Plat ".C'►; thence south 330 ffet along the east line of 10th •rest Street; thence east to the west line of 6th -vilest Street; thence north along the west line of 6th west street to the northeast corner of Block 59, Plat "0"; thence east along the south line of North Temple Street to a point 330 feet east of the northwest corner of Block 82, Plat "A"; thence north to a point 330 feet east of the south- west corner of Block 136, Plat "A"; thence west along the north line of Fifth North Street to the southeast corner of Block 96, Plat.','D"; thence north along the west line of 5th West Street to the southeast corner of Block 108, Plat 21"• thence west along the north line of 7th North Street to the southwest corner of Block 106, Plat 'C"; thence north along the east line of 8th West Street to the north line of 9th North Street; thence west along the north line of 9th North Street to a point 330 feet west of the west line of Fairbanks Street; thence south to the south line of North Temple Street; thence east along the south line of North Temple Street to the place of beginning. SECTION II. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, operate or maintain within the district described in Section I of this ordinance any packing house, tannery, cannery, rendery, bone factory, slaughter house, soap factory, foundry, livery stable, blacksmith shop, coal yard, public laundry, undertaking or embalming establishment, stone 92 II crasher, rolling mill, machine shop, carpet cleaning establishment, planing mill, ice factory, lumber yard, or to erect, operate or main- tain any other business, industry or establishment which may in- terfere with the safe, healthful or comfortable use of the pro- perty for residential purposes Which is included within the dis- trict &ascribed in Section 1 aforesaid. SECTION III. ''Any person. violating any of the provisions of this prdinaW e gha}:1, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars (4100.00), or by imprisonment in the City Jail ibr a period not exceeding sixty (60) days. The court may, in imposing a fine, enter as part of the judgment that in default of payment of the fine, the defendant may be imprisoned in the City Jail for a period not exceeding sixty (60) days. Each day's operation or maintenance of any of the plants or businesses mentioned in Section 2 of this ordinance shell be construed to be a separate offense. SECTION V. This ordinance shall take effect thirty-one (31) days after its passage. Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, the day of .1920.
