An ordinance regulating the speed of automobiles and other
similar Vehicles.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to run or oper
ate any automobile, auto-car, motor-carriage or other similar self-
propelled vehicle, upon any street or in any public park within the
corporate limits of Salt Lake City, at a greater speed than eight
miles per hour; or over any cross walk at a greater sped than four
miles per hour.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to run or operr
' ate any vehicle mentioned in the foregoing section upon any street
or in any ;;public park within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City, '
unless there is attached the rear of said vehicle and conspicu-
ously displayed, the number of said vehicle. The number mentioned

in this section shall be legibly Marked Ain figures n t less than
inches in height, and of the style known as bold-face, which
I,AsT,all be -ur i^h�dAby the City Recorder, who shall register the name'
and address of the owner, and the number of each vehicle. For such
number and registry the Recorder shall collect from said owner a

SECTION 3. It shall be unlawful for any person1while in charge.
of any vehicle mentioned in Section 1 to permit the engine or en-
gines attached to ..p€ said vehicle* to run idle, or to run while
tie said vehicle is at a standstill, for a greater lehgth of time
than minutes.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this ordinance shall be deemed to affect
or apply to engines, motors or cars which are operated upon fixed
rails or tracks.
SECTION 5. Any person violating any provision of this ordi-
nance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, od, upon conviction
thereof, shall be punished by a fine in any sum not exceeding one

, •ceeding, one hundred days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
