Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City Utah: SECTION 1. That sections 246, 247, 248, 249, 250, 251 and 252 of Chapter 8 of devised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, of 1913, denominatedthe Building Ordinance, be and the same hereby are repealed. SECTION 2. That sections 568, 569, 570 and 57$If Chapter 12 of Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, of 1913, relating to City Electrician, be and the same hereby are repealed. SECTION 3. That sections 933, 934 and 935 of Chapter 40 of Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, of 1913, relating to plumbing, be and the same hereby are repealed. SECTION 4. That sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of an ordin- ance entitled "An Ordinance Providing for Smoke Inspection in Salt Like City",passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, February 4, 1914, be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. That all the remaining sections of said chapters and amendments thereof and all said ordinances not expressly re- pealed hereby, shall remain of full force and effect. SECTION 6. There is hereby established in the department of Parks and Public Property a bureau offBuilding, Plumbing, Boiler, Smoke d,Electrical. Inspection, which shall be known as the Bureau off Inspec ion, the vAL chief of which shall be known as the Chief of thA_Inspeotion Bu e�zt. Said Bureau of , , loo ies..1 Inspection shall be and hereby is divided into the follow- ing departments which shall be known as: The Division of Building Inspection; The Division of Plumbing Inspection; The Division of Electrical Inspection; The Division of Smoke and Boiler Inspection. SECTI�N� T Board of Commissioners shall appoint as � � Chief of theA speotion ] renu a competent person, qualified by technical training and experience in building construction and the operation of furnaces and boilers and the emplacement of electrical wiring and fixtures and plumbing, and who shall also be versed in the theory of smoke and smoke prevention. SECTION 9. The Chief of the Inspection Bureau shall receive at-^� a salary of O0D-.1;10 per year, payable in monthly installments as are the salaries of other city officials; and before entering upon the duties of his office he shall take, subscribe and file with the City the constitutional oath of office and shall execute and deliver to the city a bond in the sum of 5,000.00, conditioned as provided by law. -2- SECTION 10. The duties of said chief of the Inspection Bureau are and shall be to attend to the survey and inspection of all buildings and structures, either eEeoted or proposed to be erected within the city; and to carry out, enforce and perform all duties, provisions and mandates designated, made and set forth in the ordinances of Salt Lake City concerning building and buildings and building inspection, plumbing and plumbing inspection, electricity, electrical appliances and electrical inspection, smoke and smoke inspection, boilers, furnaces and heating plants and the inspection thereof, and to do and perform all duties byeasoid ^,airs.,,,,.., laid upon the inspector of buildings, the city electrician, the plumbing inspector and the smoke inspector by the ordinances of Salt Lake City; and in reading said ordinances, wherever the term inspector of buildings, city electrician, plumbing inspector or smoke in- spector occurs, the term Chief of the Inspect ion Bureau s hall be substituted and read and intended. SECTION 11. Said Ohief of the Bureau of Mechanical In- spection shall make and file with the Board (IC Commissioners on the first of each and every month a report containing an itemized account of the business and transactions of said Bureau during the precedirg month and the e xpenses thereof and the income therefrom. SECTION 14. In case of the death or disability of said Chief of the Bureau of Mechanical Inspection or in case of his failure or refusal to act, the duties of said office shall devolve upon and be performed by the Chief of the Division of Building Inspection until such disability is removed or a successor is appointed by the Board of Commissioners, and duly qualified. SECTION 15. All ordinances and resolutions and parts of ordinances and resolutions in conflict herewith, are repealed to the extent of such conflict. I SECTION 16.
