Ai ordinance providing for the arrest and punishment of
disorderly persons , prostitutes and others.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person without visible
means of support or some legitimate business, to stand, loiter or
stroll about on any street or alley, or near or around any railroad
depot, banking institution, broker's office, place of amusement,
hotel, auotion room, saloon, store, shop, oar, or any public place
in Salt Lake City; or for any person to stand, loiter or stroll
about in any place in Salt Lake City awaiting of seeking an oppor-
tunity to obtain money or other valuable thing from others by triok
or fraud, or to aid or assist therein; or for any person to engage
in or praotioe any game, triok or device with intent to swindle; or
for any person without visible means of support or some legitimate
business to wander about the streets either by day or night, without
being able to give a satisfaotory account of himself or herself.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any male person other than
her husband, father or brother, to habitually assooiate With one or
more females known to be common prostitutes.
SECTION 3. It shall be unlawful for any female known to be a
common prostitute to be on or about the streets, alleys, parks or
public places of Salt Lake City, without a reasonable excuse,

or to be on or about the streets, alleys, parks or public
places of Salt Lake City, for unlawful purposes at any time.

between the hours of 4 P. M. of any day and. 1 A.. M. of the next day,
�'- SECTION 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of thia
ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not
exceeding Two hundred ninety-nine dollars, or by imprisonment in the
City Jail for a period not longer than six months, or by both such
fine and imprisonment. The court may, in imposing a fine, enter as
part of the judgment that in default of the payment of the fine the
defendant may be imprisoned in the City Jail for a period not
exoeeding six months.
SECTION b. This ordinanoe eha11 take'effect upon its filkst
publication.
