AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-3-9, Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to fees for interment and
removal.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 6-3-9 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the fees for interment and
removal, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 6-3-9. Fees. The city sexton shall collect from
those requiring his services, the following fees:
For opening and closing a single infant grave
of five feet in length or less $ 30.00
For opening and closing a single adult grave
for cement receptacle 60.00
Removal of the remains of any deceased adult
person from one grave to another within the
city cemetery -- 160.00
Removal of the remains of any deceased person
for interment outside of city cemetery--• 100.00
Removal of the remains of an infant from one
grave to another within the city cemetery 80.00
Removal of the remains of an infant for inter-
ment outside the city cemetery -• 50.00
Soil for flower beds per grave -• 10.00
For all interments not completed by 4:30 p.m. on any day,
a fee of $25.00 per hour shall be charged in addition to any
other fees and costs provided in this title. Such charge shall
be prorated for any portion of an hour, which proration shall
be made to the nearest one-quarter of an hour. Provided, how-
ever, that no overtime charge shall be made for any interment
when the cemetery crew may commence filling the grave by 3:30
p.m. The cemetery crew shall not commence filling the grave
until a notice to proceed is given by the funeral director in
charge at the cemetery, and it shall be his responsibility to
inform the crew when they may begin. In the event it can be
predetermined that a burial will not be completed by 4:30 p.m.,
the above required fee shall be paid in advance based upon an
estimate of the time beyond 4:30 p.m. which will be required
to complete said burial. If less or more time is required than

was estimated, any excess charge will be refunded and any
additional charge will be billed to the person obtaining
the opening order for the interment. In the event that a
burial is not completed by 4:30 p.m. due to unforeseen
circumstances, the overtime charge shall be billed to the
person obtaining the opening order for interment."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt LakCity, Utah,
this 11th day of September, 1973. (/
