97 of 1909 - Ordinance 97 of 1909 – Paving Extension No. 18, Second Partial Estimate. I 1 AN ORDINANCE . An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property o. ;State Street between North Temple and Second North Streets; West Can- you Street from the east side of State Street to the south side of !Second North Street; Hillside Avenue from the east side of State Str et to the west side of West Canyon Street, and First North Street between !Main and State Streets, in Paving Districts Nos. 22 and 30, for the guttering purpose of providing for the grading and smskimix and curbing thereof. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and (provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Paving Districts Nos . 22 and 30, for the grading and guttering and curbing of oertain streets therein, to-wit: In Lots 14, end 1 to 7, inclusive, Block 2; 1, 2 and 3, Block 1; and 4 to 10, inclusive, Block 3, Plat "g"; 2, Block 1; and 1, Block 1. Plat "E", abutting on Hillside Avenue between State and West Canyon Streets; and on West Canyon Street between First North and Second North Streets. and This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading,Aguttering and surfing with cement the portions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially af- fected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property will be espeoially ben- efited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is two thousand eight hundred thirty and 30/100 ($2830.30) dollars, or one and 40091/100,000 (01.40091) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for grading, and guttering and curbing said portions of the streets above mentioned in Paving 9', -2- Districts Noe. 22 and 30, there being 2020.33 feet of abutting prop- erty within the boundaties of the lots, blocks and streets above men- tioned, which is the total cost and post per front foot of said grad- ing and guttering and curbing, according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said improvement, with P. J. Moran, dated the 14th day of September, 1908, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned: Fronting on Hillside Avenue. All of Lots 1 and 14, Block 2; and all of Lots 2 and 3, Block 1, Plat "K". Fronting on West Canyon Street. The east 22.01 feet of Lot 2, and all of Lot 1, Block 1, Plat "E"; all of Lots 1 and 2, Block 1; all of Lots 1 to 7, inclusive, Block 2; all of Lots 5 to 10, inclusive, and the north 33.27 feet of Lot 4, Block 3, Plat "K"; and part of the southwest quarter of Septic. 31, Township 1 north, Range 1 east, abutting on the east side of West Canyon Street between forth State Street end Fourth Avenue, Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet bank from said streets, and to oolleot said tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become sad be delinquent in five equal installments, as follows, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement; one-fifth thereof in two years after such approval; one-fifth thereof in three years after such approval; one-fifth thereof in four years after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in five years after such approval. One or more of said in- stallments, or the whole tax may be paid on or before ten days after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax. One or more installments, or the whole special tax may be paid on the day any installment becomes due by paying the amount thereof and ante ®,,t -3- I to date of payment. Each of said installments shall bear interest at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum from the date of the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of said tax until date of delin- quency, and sight (8) per cent per annum from delinquency until paid.
