AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Chapter 3, of Title 41, of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to streets and bridges.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 3, of Title 41, of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Special Use Regulations, be, and
the same hereby is, amended by adding to said chapter a new section to be
(known as Sec. 41-3-16, relating to removal of parking meters, to read as
follows:
Sec. 41-3-16. Removal of parking meters. Permission to
remove a parking meter or meters from service may be granted
by the Board of City Commissioners upon application being
made therefor in writing upon the following conditions:
A showing of a substantial need to temporarily remove from
service the meters involved to the public use for a stated
duration of time;
A showing of a substantial need to place barricades;
The payment to the City Treasurer of fifty cents per day
or part of a day per each meter so removed, provided that the
minimum payment hereunder shall be $15.00. Payment to be made
upon billing received from the City Treasurer.
Each application, except for those involving remodeling or
moving, will, so far as practicable, be referred to the Salt
Lake Valley Traffic Advisory Council for its recommendations.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
5th day of September , 1972.
