AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Chapter 29 of Title 20 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Private Clubs
by AMENDING Sections 20-29-1, 20-29-2, 20-29-3, 20-29-5, 20-29-6
and 20-29-16 and by ADDING to said Chapter two new sections to be known
as Section 20-29-6(a) and Section 20-29-19, relating to Class "C"
license and private clubs.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 20-29-1, 20-29-2, 20-29-3, 20-29-5,
20-29-6 and 20-29-16 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City,
Utah, 1965, relating to private clubs be AMENDED and Sections 20-29-
6(a) and 20-29-19, relating to Class "C" license and private clubs,
be ADDED as follows:
"Sec. 20-29-1. Definitions. Private club or association.
A private club or association as used in this section shall be
defined to be any social club, recreational or athletic associa-
tion or kindred association whether incorporated or not which
maintains club rooms, regular meeting rooms or facilities within
the city limits and restricts said facilities and activities to
a clientele or group other than the general public.
"Sec. 20-29-2. Unlawful to operate without a license. It
shall be unlawful for any private club to operate within Salt
Lake City without first obtaining a license.
"Sec. 20-29-3. Classifications. Private club licenses issued
under the provisions of this chapter shall be classified into
the following types of operations and shall carry the privileges
and responsibilities hereinafter provided in this chapter:
Class "A"
Class "B"
Class "C"
"Sec. 20-29-5. Class "A" license. Class "A" license shall be
issued to all non-profit private clubs which do not maintain
restaurant facilities nor allow the sale or consumption of beer
or intoxicating liquors on the premises.

"Sec. 20-29-6. Class "B" license. Class "B" license shall be
issued to all private clubs which have complied with all of the
following requirements:
(1) Registered with the Secretary of State as a non-profit
corporation, and
(2) Secured a State locker club license from the State of
Utah Liquor Control Commission, and
(3) Maintain food service and restaurant facilities for the
sale of and allow the consumption of beer and intoxicating liquors
on the premises.
"Sec. 20-29-6(a). Class "C" license. A Class "C" license
shall be issued to all private clubs which do not meet the re-
quirements for a Class "A" or Class "B" private club license.
"Sec. 20,-29-16. . License fees. Applications provided for in
this chapter shall be accompanied by the fees hereinafter provided,
which fees shall be deposited in the City Treasury and returned
to the applicant if the license is denied:
(1) For Class "A" license - $50 per annum or any part thereof;
(2) For Class 'B." license - $300 per annum or any part thereof;
(3) For Class "C" license - $100 per annum or any part thereof,
plus any other city licenses required under Title 20 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City.
"Sec. 20-29-19. Private club. No person shall frequent the
premises of any private club required to be licensed under the
provisions of this chapter unless said person holds a membership
in said private club or is an actual guest of said member."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
