II An ordinance levying a tax and providing for the assessment of • the property hereinafter described on both sides of Washington Street: between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets, and on both sides of - r Jefferson Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets, in ' Sidewalk District No. 20, for the construction of cement sidewalks. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Sidewalk District No. 20, for the construction of cement sidewalks, to»wit: In Lots 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 1, and in Lots 1, and 22 to ' Milli 40, inclusive, Block 2, Walker's Subdivision of Block 5, Plat "A", in Lots 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 1, and in Lots 1, and 22 to 40, in- elusive, Block 2, Walker's Subdivision of Block 6, Plat "A", abutting: � on both sides of Jefferson Street between Eighth South and Ninth South (Streets, and on both sides of Washington Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets. This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing' cement aisidewalks four (4) feet wide and four (4) inches thick upon the por- tions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore and heyein- after described to be especially affeoted and benefited by said im- provement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that :said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed iat an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot front-. li age upon said streets fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and t .e tax hereby levied and to be assessed ::upon said parcels of land is two thousand seven hundred ninety-one ,and 80/100 ($2,791.80) dollars, or one and 575/10,000 (01.0575) dol- lars per front or linear foot of abutting property for sidewalks on both sides of the streets above mentioned injbi.dewalk District 'o, 2Q, 99f. -2- there being 2,640 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalks according; to the contract entered into for the perfoornce of said work and making said improvement, with t 2 dated the / day of ( , 190 7 j and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in ac- cordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein. mentioned: The west side of Lots 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 1, and the east side of Lots 1, and 22 to 40, inclusive, Block 2, Walker's Subdivision of Block 5, Plat "A"; the west side of Lots 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 1, and the east side of Lots 1, and 22 to 40, inclusive, Block 2, Walker's Subdivision of Block 6, Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, ad the same are shown upon the official plats of said City to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five equal installments, as follows, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tam for the payment for such improvement; one-fifth thereof in two years after such approval; once-fifth thereof in three years after such approval; one-fifth thereof in four years after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in five years after such approval. One or more of said in- stallments, or the whole special tax may be paid on or before ten days after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax. One or more installments, or the whole special tax may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and in- terest to date of payment. Each of said installments shall bear in- terest at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum from the date of the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of said tax until the date of delinquency, and eight (8) per cent per annum from Jelin 4 -3- queney until paid. • SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
