AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Chapter 34 of Title 20 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to professional
dancers, agents and musical entertainers by AMENDING Sections 20-34-1(a)
and 20-34-2 and by ADDING to said Chapter four new sections to be known
as Sections 20-34-8, 20-34-9, 20-34-10 and 20-34-11.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 20-34-1(a) and 20-34-2 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to professional
dancers, agents and musical entertainers be AMENDED and Sections
20-34-8, 20-34-9, 20-34-10 and 20-34-11 be ADDED as follows:
"Sec. 20-34-1(a). Any person under the age of 21 years to
perform as a dancer on a premises licensed under the provisions
of Title 19 or 20 of these Revised Ordinances, either gratu-
itously or for compensation, without first obtaining a license
therefor;

"Sec. 20-34-2. Fees. The annual fee for a license for any
professional dancer performing as an individual or represented
by an agency shall be $10.00. The annual fee for an agency license
shall be $50.00.
"Sec. 20-34-8. License fees for restaurant, tavern and pri-
vate clubs. (a) The license fee for the allowing of professional
dancers and non-musical entertainers on the premises of a
restaurant, tavern or private club shall be $100 per annum.
(b) The license fee for the allowing of live musical enter-
tainers on the premises of a restaurant, tavern or private club
shall be $100 per annum.
(c) A tavern, restaurant, bar, private club or association
licensed under Title 19 and 20 of these Revised Ordinances de-
siring to provide or allow any combination of dancing by patrons
as provided in Title 9 of these Revised Ordinances, live musical
entertainment, or professional dancers may do so by purchasing
a license for $100 for one of the above activities and $25 for each
such additional activity desired.
"Sec. 20-34-9. Live musical entertainment in licensed
restaurants, taverns or private clubs only. It shall be unlawful
to furnish live entertainment for patrons of restaurants, taverns
or private clubs unless said premises are licensed to allow said
entertainment according to the provisions of this chapter.

"Sec. 20-34-10. Identification for minors. No musical enter-
tainer, between the ages of 18 and 21 years may perform upon the
premises of a tavern or private club, required to be licensed
under the provisions of this chapter, unless or until said
entertainer has obtained a recommendation from the police depart-
ment and the approval of the board of commissioners of Salt Lake
City and secured an identification card from the Salt Lake City
police department at the cost of $4.00; said approval and identi-
fication card shall be renewed each calendar year. It shall be
unlawful for any such professional entertainer between 18 and 21
years of age to circulate among the patrons or guests of such
licensed tavern or private club or to be or remain upon said
premises at any time other 'than during the performance of his
professional entertainment; It shall be unlawful for any tavern
or private club licensee or any employee or agent or permittee
of such tavern or private club licensee to permit any such pro-
fessional entertainer between 18 and 21 years of age to circulate
among the patrons or guests of such licensed tavern or private
club or to be or remain upon said premises at any time other than
during the performance of.such professional entertainer.
"Sec. 20-34-11,; Illegal to allow consumption of alcoholic
beverages on premises used for professional entertainment,
exceptions. It shall be unlawful for a business establishment
licensed to provide professional entertainment for its patrons
to allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages upon the pre-
mises unless said establishment meets the requirements of section
19-4-1, where applicable, and is also licensed as a restaurant,
tavern, or a Class "B" private club."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
