Result
WHEREAS, JONATHAN EDWARD OPENSHAW, father of
Dr. Clarence R. Openshaw, recently appointed City Physician
for Salt Lake City, departed this life, Wednesday, February
21st, 1940, at 8:30 o'clock P. M. after a long and useful life,
and
ViHEREAS, Mr. Openshaw was born at Swinton,
Lancashire, England, April 17th, 1859, a son of Job and
Nancy Bestwick Openshaw, coming to Salt Lake City July 2d,
1874, he became affiliated with the banking business and was
employed by the Utah State National Bank at the time of his
retirement in 1939. He was active in the Latter Day Saints
Church, serving as Superintendent of religious classes, as
Sunday School Superintendent and as a member of the high council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the
Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, expresses its
profound condolence upon the death of Jonathan Edward Openshaw
and extends to the bereaved family, its deepest sympathy upon
the passing of their beloved father.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution
be spread upon the minutes of the Board of Commissioners and
that a copy be forwarded to the family of Jonathan Edward
Openshaw.
Adopted by the Board of Commiasi ners of Salt Lake City,
Utah this 27th day of tebruery'A lD.1940.
