RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, it is necessary for the public good of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that a bridge over the Jordan River be constructed at the intersection of said river with Indiana Avenue in Salt Lake City to provide a means of crossing over said river and to replace the old bridge which was destroy- ed in September, 1947, and that said bridge be so located as to eliminate, as far as possible,curves in Indiana Avenue to make the approaches to said bridge straight and eliminate the traffic hazards and obstructions to traffic which existed by reason of said curves in said avenue in approaching the bridge as formerly existed; and WHEREAS, it is necessary, to eliminate said curves, to alter and realign said Indiana Avenue by moving it to the north as it approaches said bridge site, and in so doing it is necessary to acquire the tracts of land hereinafter described for approaches to said bridge.; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commission- ers of Salt Lake City that it is necessary and to the public inter- est of said city and to its inhabitants that said city construct and maintain a bridge over the Jordan River at Indiana Avenue and in so doing to alter and realign said Indiana Avenue so as to occu— py with said avenue the tracts of land hereinafter described to provide proper approaches to said bridge and eliminate hazardous curves therein; That the construction of said bridge and the alteration and realignment of said Indiana Avenue be and the same hereby is authorized; -2- That the tracts of_land hereinafter described and the whole thereof are hereby determined to be necessary and the most suitable for providing approaches to said bridge so as to eliminate curves in said Indiana Avenue as it approaches said bridge and the acquiring of said tracts by Salt Lake City for such purposes it hereby declared to be a public necessity and for the good, well- being and protection of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City; that condemnation proceedings be, and the same hereby are, authorized to be brought in the name of Salt Lake City by the legal department of Salt Lake City to acquire by such proceedings the tracts of land hereinafter described for the alteration and the realignment of Indiana Avenue for proper approaches to the said bridge, such tracts to be occupied as a part of said Indiana Avenue as so altered; The tracts of land hereinabove referred to as the tracts of land to be used and occupied by Indiana Avenue as altered are situated in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, late of Utah, and described as follows: Tract No. I owned and claimed by C. E. and Clara P. Keene: Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 1, Block 2, J.E.WhalonTs Addition of part of the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 11, T. 1 S., R. 1 W., S. L. B. & M., thence N. 17" 39' 27" W. 50.74 ft., thence S. 74" 52' 32" W. 110.17 feet, thence westerly around a 573.686 feet radius curve to the right a distance of 18.66 ft., thence S. 17" 39' 27" E. 15.91 ft., thence N. 89" 56' 33" E. 135.0 ft. to the point of be- ginning. Tract No. 2 owned and claimed by Walter and Sylvia S. White: Beginning on the east bank of the Jordan River (1948 Channel) at the north side of street running along the south line extended of Block 1, J.H.Whalon's Addition of part of the NE 1/4 of the N.W.1/4 of Section 11, T. 1 S., R. 1 W., S. L.
