Result RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF CITY COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, STATE OF UTAH WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners of Salt Lake City, State of Utah, have met in regular session as a board this 17th day of January, 1957, and, WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Civil Service Commission has presented to the Commission amendments to Section 10-10-12, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, and Section 10-10-20, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, and, WHEREAS, Section 10-10-12, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, is amended to provide that Civil Service Commissioners receive $10.00 per regular meeting of the Commission rather than $5.00 as per present statute, and, WHEREAS, Civil Service Commissioners in this community are in nowise compensated for the public service which they perform, and, WHEREAS, the amendment providing that they hereafter shall receive $10.00 per meeting of the Civil Service Commission will materially assist Civil Service Commissioners in reducing the personal expense to themselves while performing their public service, and, WHEREAS, it is oft times impossible to prepare necessary eligible lists from which Civil Service employment can be made within the presently established thirty-day period and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of City Commis- sioners to limit temporary employment of personnel in city departments covered by Classified Civil Service, except during emergency periods, and, WHEREAS, the amendment of Sections 10-10-12 and 10-10-20, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, as amended and presented to the Salt Lake City Board of Commissioners by the Salt Lake City Civil Service Commission, improves upon the present statute in these regards, NOW, IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED, by the Salt Lake City Board of Commissioners, that the Utah State Legislature of 1957 should adopt, and make law, the proposed amendment of Section 10-10-12 and Section 10-10-20, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, it appearing to the Salt Lake City Board of Commissioners that these amendments will materially and substantially improve upon the efficiency and success of Civil Service in this great community of Salt Lake City.
