WHEREAS, there has been introduced in the Congress of the
United States legislation designed to effect the establishment of a
national cemetery at Fort Douglas; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah, that the establishment of a rational cemetery
at Fort Douglas would be most beneficial to the community of Salt
Lake City, the State of Utah and the United States of America as a
memorial to the veterans and servicemen who may be burled therein;
and
WHEREAS, there is a present and future need for such a
cemetery as proposed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, Utah, that said Board, on behalf of the citizens
of Salt Lake City, extend its full support to the passage of the
proposed legislation for the establishment of a national cemetery at
Fort Douglas and that said Board go on record as being in complete
accord with the location of such a cemetery at the Fort Douglas
military reservation in memory of the veterans and servicemen of our
country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
mailed to the honorable members of the Senate and House of Representa-
tives from the State of Utah.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 19th day of January, 1961 .
