Valliant Chief of Real Estate Division 'URunitions Building Washington, D. C. Dear Col. Valliant: WHEREAS, the United States Army anticipates the construction of a Quartermaster Supply Base in the Salt Lake City Area, and W"IIEREAS, the City Commission of Salt Lake City and the County Commission of Salt Lake County are vitally interested in the establishment of such tease in close proximity to Salt Lake City, and WHEREAS, the appropriation to purchase the land for such supply depot, including all expenses incident thereto, amounts to the sum of $213,000.00, and WHEREAS, the City Commission and County Commission of Salt Lake City and County respectively have done everything possible to impress upon the said War Department the value of locating said supply depot in close proximity to said Salt Lake City, and in order to assure the said War Depart- ment further of their desire to cooperate in the establishment of said Depot in this area, NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the said Commissions jointly and severally agree to deliver or cause to be delivered to said War Depart- ment such tract of land as they may need for such Depot for a price of not to exceed the amount of money made available by said appropriation after de- ducting all expenses incident to the procuring of such sites, provided, how- ever, that this guarantee will run with either of the two sites submitted, to-wit: the tract West of 33rd West Street South of the Salt Lake, Garfield and Western Railway and North of the Western Pacific Railway; or the tract running North and Westerly from Sixth North and Sixth West Streets, Salt Lake City, this guarantee to run to such tract of land as may be needed up to three thousand acres.
