WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is situated in a semi-aria
region and the quantity of water available is the limit of ti=e
activities, industries and population teat can be maintained in
this area; and
'S{EREAS, the national emergency has created great activi-
ties in the military1war industries) and civilian population of
this district, thereby necessitating additional rater; and
V:HE-RE .S, Salt Lake City has whole-heartedly cooperated
in every way to make available the additional water for these ex-
banding actities; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Declamation of the United States
is developing what is cosr.ionly caned the Deer Creek project, which
then completed will augment the supply of culinary water available
in Salt Lake City and its environs; aha
IJIEREAS, that project is pa.'.: -:'-lly completed and with
priorities given for the building of the aqueduct it would assure
an adequate supply for all present purposes and future expansion of
the military and war industries in this vicinity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the deliberate
judgment of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City that the
small amount of critical material necessary for the completion of
the aqueduct should be given immediate priorities, for if the car
continues, as all present indications are that it will, this addi-
tional water is absolutely necessary to guarantee adequate water for
the development of the activities in this region, and should we be
blessed with an early termination of this conflict these priorities
granted and used for the purpose herein asked for would provide
r='

water for a large population and give protection and make self-
sufficient this district. Therefore, we earnestly request the
Bureau of heclamation Pf the United States to submit an application
for priorities for the materials necessary for the completion of
the aqueduct which is to convey the water from the Provo Siver
to Salt Lake City, and the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
