Dear Sirs
At a meeting of the hoard of Commissioners held
November 12, 1957, Resolution No. 10 declaring the results
of the Municipal Lleotion held November 5th, 1957, for City
Commissioners, City Auditor and City Judges, also proposal
to Prams a "City Charter", and directing the City Recorder to
issue a certificate of election to Mr. Joe L. Christenson,
and Mr. Theodore I. !Mod" Gourta+ for City Commissioners for
a four year term' Mr. Louis F. Holley, City Auditor for a
four year tern and Arthur J. Mays and Maroellus E. Snow, City
Judges for a six year term, was adopted.

Result
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 5th, 1957.
WHEREAS, a Municipal Election was held Tuesday the 5th
day of November, A.D. , 1957, in the City of Salt Lake City,
and
WHEREAS, on Tuesday the 12th day of November, 1957,
at 10:30 o'clock A.M. the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah, sitting as a Board of Canvassers, as required by
law, convened and did publicly canvass the returns of such
election, and did continue in session until the same was
concluded, and
WHEREAS, on this the 12th day of November, A. D. 1957,
having completed said canvass, the Board does find from such
canvass, that the following named persons were elected from a
plurality of votes cast, to the Offices set opposite their
respective names:
FOR CITY COMMISSIONERS
JOE L. CIIRISTENSEN, - Commissioner- four year term
THEODORE 1. "TED" GEURTS - Commissioner-four year term
CITY AUDITOR
LOUIS E. HOLLEY, - City Auditor -four year term
CITY JUDGES
ARTHUR J. MAYS, - City Judge - six year term ,
Judicial Office No. 2,
MARCELLUS K. SNOW, - City Judge - six year term,
Judicial Office No. 4,
WHEREAS, there was submitted to the Electors at
said Election, the Question "Shall a Commission he chosen to —
frame a Charter?" and the Canvas of the votes on said Question
having been completed this 12th day of November, A. D. 1957,
the Board does find from said Canvas that the vote on said
Question was as follows: YES, 17 2,6
and NO, .44.) 19 Le
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Certificates of
Election be issued to the following named persons to the
Offices set opposite their respective names, they and each
of them having received a plurality of all votes cast, and
they and each of them are hereby declared to have been
elected to said Offices and the City Recorder is hereby
directed to issue a Certificate of Election to each of said
personsl namely:
JOE L. CHRISTENSEN, Commissioner - four
year term
THEODORE I. "TED" GEURTS, Commissioner - four
year term
LOUIS E. HOLLEY, City Auditor - four
year term
ARTHUR J. MAYS, City Judge - six year
term
MARCELLUS K. SNOW, City Judge - six year
term
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the majority of the
Electors of Salt Lake City, Utah, voted NO on said Question,
the proposal to frame a Charter being thereby defeated,
consequently no Charter Commission to frame a Charter could
be or was elected and a Canvas of the votes for Candidates
for the Charter Commission is unnecessary.
This resolution shall take effect upon its adoption.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah, this 144 day of November, A. D., 1957.
