WHEREAS, Ralph C. Knudson, since October 16, 1962, has served
as Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, Chief Knudson has served in the Police Department of
Salt Lake City a total of twenty-four years and during that time has
served in many capacities within that department and has risen from
the ranks to the head of the department; and
WHEREAS, during his long tenure of service with Salt Lake City
he has served with fidelity and efficiency, discharging faithfully
and ably each assignment of duty, thereby rendering to the Police
Department and to the inhabitants of Salt Lake City indispensable
service in the enforcement of law and preserving the peace, being
at all times a credit to the department and to the city; and
WHEREAS, Chief Knudson has now voluntarily resigned from employ-
ment in the Police Department, which resignation has been accepted by
The Board of Commissioners, effective April 5, 1966.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that it does hereby express to Ralph C. Knudson
deep and sincere appreciation and gratitude for the faithful and
capable service he has rendered to the Police Department of Salt Lake
City and to the inhabitants of said city. Said Board extends to him
its best wishes that his days of retirement will bring him happiness
and satisfaction.
The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver to Chief Knudson
a copy of this resolution.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 7th day of April, 1966.
