Presented to the Board of Commissioners AND PASSED aPR 4 1972. )680#044\XN\OhgtotO CITY ROLL CALL VOTING Aye /Nay Salt Lake City,Utah, ,19 Mr.Chairman.... ✓7 I move that the Resolution be adopted. ✓Barker />> Harmsen Harrison V Phillips RESOLUTION Result / OF CONDOLENCE WHEREAS, George Dewey Clyde departed this life on the second day of April, 1972, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, after a distinguished career as an educator and civil and irrigation engineer, he was elected this State's Tenth Governor in 1956 and served two terms as the State of Utah's Chief Executive, during which terms he dedicated his efforts to the improvement of State Government and the State Educational system; and WHEREAS, during his lifetime he served in numerous public capacities wherein he gave unselfishly of his abilities and skills most notably in the areas of irrigation, agriculture and water development; and WHEREAS, for his generous and dedicated public service and for his competence in his chosen profession, he has been honored by numerous professional, public and private organizations, and lauded by all as a man of great character; and WHEREAS, in his passing the State of Utah has lost one of its most respected and valued citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that it does hereby express on its own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, its deep and sincere appreciation for the life and services of George Dewey Clyde. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to the family of George Dewey Clyde as an expression of our sympathy for the loss they have sustained in his passing.
