Result RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, with a fine civic spirit and the high purpose
of rekindling
a love and appreciation for the great musical
masterpiecekof Christian people, the various clubs and churches
of ti t have arranged for a Community Service at the Tabernacle
the o New year's Day, at which Handel's famous oratorio
"The Messiah" will be rendered; and
wHEREAs, it is highly desirable that this, our city,
should not pass heedlessly through the Aoliday season without
an appropriate observance and expression, as a community, of
the deep and sacred feeling that should and does underlie the
generous impulse of these days of cheer and goodwill; and
WHEREAS,. it is manifest that the proposed Community
Service at the Tabernacle will afford a **fitting medium for
such observance, and will, in a very special sense, serve to
express the united spiritual sentiments of the city on the
occasion of this season of gladness; and
WHEREAS, it is proper and needful that this body
should lend its support to all undertakings that serve the
civic welfare, regardless of the limitations of its official
functions: now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Salt
{ Lake City does hereby extend its sincere endorsement to the committee
having in hand the Community Service plans and earnestly urge upon
all citizens the value of their personal interest to the end that
so high and worthy a project shall be crowned with the full measure
of success it deserves. • •
