A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has acquired certain water
rights in the Tanner Ditch leading from Big Cottonwood Creek
in Salt Lake County, and by virtue of a contract heretofore made
and entered into with the Big Cottonwood Tanner Ditch Company,
Salt Lake City has agreed to deliver to said company certain
waters from Utah Lake in exchange for water from Big Cottonwood
Creek, and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City contemplates and is now negotia-
ting other contracts of a similar nature for other waters of
Big Cottonwood Creek and Little Cottonwood Creek, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary in order to make said exchange
of waters to extend the East Jordan Canal, in which Banal Salt
Lake City has an interest, for the purpose of delivering water
fran Utah Lake to the said Tanner Ditch Company and to such other
persons as said City may contract with for the exchange of waters,
and
WHEREAS, it is and is hereby declared to be necessary
for said City to own the following described property through
which said East Jordan Canal, as extended, will run.
NOT THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Attorney
be, and he is hereby instructed and directed to bring suit against
the owners of the property hereinafter described, for the purpose
of acquiring title to said lands for Salt Lake City by condemnation
for said extension of the East Jordan Canal, said lands be ing the
following, to wit:
Beginning 536.9 feet east from the Northwest •
corner of Vincent and Sadie E. Shurtliff's property, which
point also bears S. 86. 58' E. 570.6 feet from the North-
west oorner of Section 22, T. 2 S., R. 1 E. , Salt Lake Base
and Meridian; thence east 66.3 feet; thence S. 5° 03' W.

21.6 feet; thence along a 9° 27' curve to the right
256.1 feet; thence S. 29° 15' W. 777.5 feet; thence along
a 21°05' curve to the right 202.1 feet; thence No. o°
09' E. 70.9 feet; thence along a 27°55' curve to the left
130.2'; thence N. 29° 15' E. 777.5 feet; thence along a
10° 37' curve to the left 227.9 feet; thence N. 5°03'
E. 15.3 feet to point of beginning. Containing 1.824
acres more or less.
and,
BE IT FURTHM RESCLVED, That said City Attorney be,
and he is hereby instructed to commence such proceedings at once.
In the opinion of the Board. of Commissioners, it is
necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this resolution become effective at once.
This resolution shall take effect upon its passage.
Passed by the Board. of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this L.k. " day of March, A. D., 1920.
