His associates in public life have lost a true friend and his passing is a great loss to this community. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commission- ers of Salt Lake City hereby attest its high appreciation and person- al respect for the life and public service of William Henry Folland. He was a man of unimpeachable integrity, a high-minded citizen and a conscientious and efficient public offical, actuated only by a spirit of service to the community whose trust and confi- dence he enjoyed and deserved. He was admired and esteemed by all those who knew him and he gave his untiring efforts to serve the people of this community and endeavored to live a life of service to God and humanity. He was appointed to his first public office in the year of 1913 as Assistant City Attorney for Salt Lake City, and in the year of 1917 was appointed City Attorney, which position he held with honor and distinction until he was elected associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Utah in 1929. His term on the Supreme Court expired in 1939, at which time he was Chief Justice. He was also affiliated with many welfare organization dur- ing his lifetime and actively engaged in various civic undertakings. In behalf of the citizens of Salt Lake City and the many friends and associates of William Henry Folland, we extend to his widow and sons our heartfelt sympathy. We share with them the sadness Hof separation. 1 AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Board of Commissioners and that a copy be forwarded to Mrs. Folland and members of the family.
