Result . . .
WHEREAS, the Board of Health of the State of Utah has requested
the Salt Lake City Board of Commissioners to designate and appoint an
officer of Salt Lake City- and an alternate, to be authorized to sign
applications and contracts for federal funds a.;silable to states and
municipalities under the Hill-Burton Act for the construction of state
and mualcipai hospitals, health centers and nursin„ homes, etc. ; and
WHEREAS, the said Board of Commissioners deem it apnropria_te
and advisable to dest:nate and appoint J. Bracken Lee, Mayor of Salt
Lake City, to such office for the purpose of st2nin2. said applications
and contracts and in his absence, resit nation or disability, to appoint
and deal nate Commissioner J. K. Piercey to sign such applications and
contracts in the place and stead of said Mayor Lee; and
WHEREAS, such funds as are made available by said Hill--
Burton Act are matched by anprooriations of Salt Lake Ctty; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners deems it necessary and
essential to the welfare, health, morals, peace and safety of the com-
munity that such officers be appointed foe the purposes herein set
forth;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, Utah, ;.n Commission meetin: lawfully assembles:
That J. Bracken Lee, the duly elected, qualified and actin:
Mc'or of Salt Lake City, Utah, be, and he is hereby authorized, directed
and empowered to si.tn any applications, contracts or other documents,
instruments and papers required by the Hill-Burton Act to obtain matchint
federal funds with City appropriations for and on behalf of Salt Lake
City, Perform any and all tlaps necessary in the premises to carry into
effect the Purposes of this appointment and authorization and the
objects and purposes of said act.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the absence, disability or
resignation of said Mayor J. Bracken Lee, Commissioner J. K. Piercey
be, and he is hereby authorized, directed and empowered to sign any
applications, contracts or other papers required by the Hill-Burton Act
to obtain matching federal funds with City appropriations for and on
behalf of Salt Lake City, perform any and all things necessary in the
nremises to carry into effect the purposes of this appointment and
authorization and the objects and purposes of said act.
