viding that no extension in any

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has passed an ordinance asking
the citizens of Salt Lake City to vote upon the question of issuing
$19,500,000.00 General Obligation Bonds; and
WHEREAS, such bonds if approved will require an anticipated tax
increase of 5.33 mills in order to retire the principal and interest of
said bonds; and
WHEREAS, one of the recommendations of the Citizens' Advisory
Committee on Capital Improvements was that the Board of Commissioners
resolve to declare its intention to allow the present levy for water
purification and disposal purposes annually set at four (4) mills to
expire as required by existing statutes and that the said Board resolvc.
not to ask the Legislature for a renewal or extension of the same; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is willing to follow the
recommendations of the Citizens' Advisory Committee on Capital Improvements
except that an additional two-year extension may be required if it is
finally determined to construct the sewage disposal plant and if the cost
thereof exceeds the sum of y$7,000,000.00 asked for in the bond election
for sewage treatment and disposal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah:
(1) That contingent upon the favorable vote of the citizens of
Salt Lake City upon the said General Obligation Bonds the Board does
hereby declare its intention to allow the said four (4) mill levy for
water purification and sewage treatment facilities to expire in accordance
with the present statutes and that the Board declares its intention not to
ask the Legislature for a renewal or extension of the same except as pro-
vided in paragraph 2 herein.
(2) That in the event that the cost of the sewage disposal and

treatment facilities as finally recommended exceeds the $'(,600,000.00
placed upon the ballot for the forthcoming bond election and only in
that event the Board of Commissioners may in its discretion ask the
Legislature for an extension of the said four (4) mill levy but in
no case shall such extension be requested for a period beyond 1965.
