RESOLUTION
Result . . . .
C
WHEREAS , it is contemplated that a portion of the Belt
Route System around the perimeter of Salt Lake City between North
Temple and Twenty-First South will soon be under construction; and
WHEREAS, the present plans for such construction call for
a continuous highway system without ingress or egress ramps anywhere
along said portion of the Belt Route;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that it is the opinion of the Board of
Commissioners of Salt Lake City that the proposed plan which excludes
ingress or egress ramps between North Temple and Twenty-First South
be amended and altered to include on and off ramps for the following
reasons:
1. That the proposed Belt Route System passes directly
through the present industrial center where many industries are
currently located, and that said area offers tremendous potential
for future industrial growth and development, offering potential
employment for thousands of citizens of our community.
2. That, in order to afford efficient and quick access to
and from said industrial area, such on and off ramps are an absolute
necessity; and, without said ramps, employees and residents of said
area will be greatly inconvenienced.
3. That such immediate access to various parts of the
city by reason of the Belt Route System is certainly an inducement
for the future economic and industrial development of Salt Lake City
and Salt Lake County, which advantage would be negated if no such
access to the Belt Route System were available.
4. That, in order to ensure the future economic base of
our community and to provide for the convenience of the citizens of
Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County, on and off ramps must be con-
structed at two or more places along said portion of the Belt Route
System between North Temple and Twenty-First South.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Recorder be directed to
forward this Resolution to the State Highway Department.
