RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Board of Commissioners is interested in
the beautification of property within Salt Lake City; and
WHEREAS, the Sisters of the Holy Cross Hospital, through their benevo-
lence, have graciously allowed Salt Lake City to lease expensive ground at
the hospital, which is in the heart of the City, for the purposes of beauti-
fying property within Salt Lake City by utilizing said property as a
municipal rose garden; and
WHEREAS, said lease has covered a period of more than 35 years and for
the very nominal rent of one dozen roses per year; and
WHEREAS, during that period of time there has been a harmonious relation-
ship between the hospital staff and Salt Lake City concerning the lease of the
property; and
WHEREAS, the garden has been of great aesthetic value to Salt Lake City,
and the citizens of Salt Lake City, as well as visitors of our City, have
immensely enjoyed the rose garden and have enjoyed being able to stroll through
the gardens and marvel at the great variety of roses growing therein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE
CITY, UTAH, on its behalf and on behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City,
that the Board does hereby express to Sister M. Ann Josephine, Administrator
of the hospital, and to the other Sisters in the Holy Cross Hospital, its
sincere and deep appreciation for the many years they have allowed Salt Lake
City to utilize the property as a municipal rose garden.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
Sister M. Ann Josephine, Administrator of the Holy Cross Hospital.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 19th
day of April, 1972.
