WHEREAS, Sergeant J. Henry Johnstone, who was mortally wounded on July 5th, 1911, and languishing from his said wound departed this life on the 8th day of July, 1911; and WHEREAS, it is becoming that the community should show in a substantial manner its appreciation of the noble and faithful services of Sergeant Johnstone, as well as to express its grief for his untimely death and its sympathy for the sorrowing wife and children who are no longer shielded and protected and maintained by the brave and gentle husband and father so cruelly torn from them; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that the sum of $250.00 be, and the same is Ao-,00—u-/- a-- hereby appropriated for the purpose of defraying the funeral expenses and the expenses of the last illness of Sergeant Johnstone. B2 IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council joins in the general grief of this community at the death of this brave officer and noble man. C—A}"
