Dear Sir:
As per your request I am furnishing you a list of
streets that I think should be set apart fpr the coasters in
our city,and in selecting these streets I have done so with
a view to avoid accidents as much as possible , - and I would
suggest that the Utah Light &: Railway Company be notified to
have their cars Come to a full stop on each side of the street
where the coasters cross their tracks , and that the motormen
be cautioned to use care when startin`,: up again so as to help
us to minimize accidents as much a;; possible . Further, I
would ask that the Police Department use their best efforts
to stop the coasting on all other streets except these named :
South Temple Street from Federal Heights going
west on north side of South Temple .
First Avenue from Virginia Street
"K." Street from llth Avenue to South Temple ; stop
cars on both sides of street on 9th Avenue , 6th
Avenue and Third Avenue on "K" Street .
"C" and "D" streets from 9th Avenue to South Temple .

Third South Street from 13th East Street going west.

on 9th :Est line to watch at Third South Street.
Tenth South from 13th last to llth East. Cars stop
on llth Past.
roeroon Avenue from 15th East to llth Past. Tars
stop at Emerson Avenue.
Eleventh South from 15th Last to llth _last. Cars
stop on llth South.
I should like to see immediate action taken on this matter.

Dear Sir:
I have the honor to report, as per your request, that the
following streets, in my opinion, mould be the safest to allow coasting on
during the winter season, and if agreeable to you and t,-e Commissioners, I
would be pleased to have you designate them as streets on which coasting
may be allowed.
I would also recommend that the fact of these streets being so
designated be given as much publicity ss possible and an appeal made to
the citizens that wherever possible to avoid traveling on them when there
is good coasting. The young people enjoy the sport of coasting and I
believe should be given all the privileges possible without endangering
their lives.
South Temple, north side, going west

3rd South do do do
1st Ave do do
2nd Ave. do do
llth East, from 2nd South to let South, running north.
Center St. north side, from 3rd North, running north.
4th North, Center St. to 2nd West, running west.
let North, from No.Main to 2nd West, running west.
In the Southeastern part of city coasting to be allowed wherever
coasters do not cross tracks. In no cases will coasting
be allowed where street car tracks are crossed.
Coasting prohibited on all sidewalks in the city limits.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CO: .TI33IOLILRS of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
That the following streets in Salt Lake City, between the
limits thereon hereinafter specified, be and they hereby are
designated as streets upon which coasting is authorized, to-wit:
South Temple Street from Federal Heights going west
on -worth side of South Temple .
First Avenue from Virginia Street .
"Hn Street from llth Avenue to South Temple ; stop cars
on both sides of street on 9th Avenue , 6th Avenue and
Third Avenue on "K" Street. ,
"C" and "Du Streets from 9th Avenue to South Temple .

First , Second , Third and Fourth iTorth Streets from
Centre Street to First pest Street.
Third South Street from 13th East going west; cars stop ,
on both sides of 10th East and Third South. Conductors
on 9th East Street line to watch on Third South Street.
Tenth South Street from 13th East to llth East Streets.
Cars stop on llth'East Street .
Emerson Avenue from 15th East to llth East. Cars stop
at Emerson Avenue
Eleventh South from 15th East to llth East. Cars stop
stop on llth South Street .
Street cars and all vehicles and automobiles are reruired
to stop and their drivers and occupants thereof to look and use
caution before crossing any of said streets between the limits thereon
above mentioned.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Recorder be and he
hereby is directed to publish this Resolution as a public notice
in the manner provided for the publication of ordinances in a
daily paper of general circulation in Salt Lake City.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this 2gth day of December .,13.
